Twists...without shrinkage
Hey y'all -
I did a forum search for this...but didn't see anything.
I normally do my 2-strand twists with Organic Root Stimulator Lock and Twist Gel, but I get massive shrinkage.
What are some suggested products for twists without the shrinkage?
Thanks in advance

Re: Twists...without shrinkage
To get twists without shrinkage you would need to twist on hair that is fully dry. As long as your hair is damp or wet your hair is still going to shrink.

i always twist on real wet/damp hair with my shealoe gel mix. i also make sure to use a leave-in. i notice that my twists get 'longer' in day 3 or 4 when hair is in twists. i keep the twists in for at least a week, making sure to moisturize, condition and seal the hair while in twists.

To get minimal shrinkage, I twist my hair dry and I use some type of butter to twist. ORS Lock and twist gel causes tons of shrinkage for me....I only use it when I dont mind the shrinkage.

i wash, hot oil and condition, then blow my hair out with a comb or brush hair dryer so its slightly damp, then slather Liv creme hairdressing on it to two strand twist, THEN bantu knots for loose very curly curls, it can last up to 1 1/2 weeks looking cuter as it gets older (in my opinion)

I just joined the website because I have been snooping around for days. Great tips ladies. Personally I think I will try the twist style on slightly damp hair. My hair is really curly so I think shrinkage is inevitable. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

You can stretch your twists by braiding them while they are still wet. When you take the braids out after they dried, it will make them longer, AND smaller/less poofy. Here is what it looks like, done on 60 twists on very thick hair.

I got the idea from another topic on here, and it has become one of my favorite styles.

@JazmineB Gorgeous hair girl!!!!
@midwesternchic here is a pic of my hair after a damp twist out using organic roots stimulator creamy formula twist and lock gel. My hair was just barely wet, but when I put the lock gel on it became wet again due to the gel. I let it dry overnight and took it down. Ran my hands through it to fluff it out. Note: the twists will look scary upon let down but the fluffing saves the day every time! HTH!
PS first time posting pic in reply so hope it works

Co-sign, also you may want to stretch it as it dries either in bigger twists or braids or by banding
