Three Strand Twists?
So I was browsing youtube for new styles and I ran across the tutorial for three strand twists.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjwWanR65Pg
It looks pretty cool and the twist out results look amazing. Has anyone tried this before?

Re: Three Strand Twists?
I did them quite often for a few months. I looove the resulting twistout. But, as much as I loved the twistout, I couldn't stand how much fuzzier (probably because my hair's growing out from ugly breakage) they got in less time, and they got tangled faster, too. When my hair grows more even I'll do them again!

Re: Three Strand Twists?
I have done three strand twist's on my daughter. But not all over...

All over is on my 'to try' list.
When I took out each twist her hair looked really great though! So I can imagine what an entire twist out would look like.

I tried to do three strand twist yesterday, I just can't get the hang of it. I am going to keep trying.
Re: Three Strand Twists?
I absolutely love three strand twists. They look fuller and has more of a design. I rarely do a whole head of them because I have to concentrate so hard at not braiding that it takes forever. I usually sport them in bangs.

I think three strand twists will be my next adventure. I'll let you all know how it works out. I tried to do a three strand twist on one section of my hair and I was concentrating so hard that I gave myself a headache!

Re: Three Strand Twists?
ok I didn't finish twisting my hair....i go the ITIS plus i don't like how my hair feels which means my twists would be coming right back down for me to wash my hair anyway.....
I'll let you all know when i do and post some pics.

Re: Three Strand Twists?
I have mastered the three strand twist on about 2 twist. LOL! Like naturalnurse said, I have to concentrate so hard and look in the mirror when I do them. When my hair gets longer, I will try to do it all over.

LOL, yes!! Don't get caught up in something else because you'll have braids in a heartbeat!

Cool! Since I'm going to have to concentrate while doing this, I'll wait until I have a day off.

Re: Three Strand Twists?
I did a test run and did okay, but when I tried to do my whole head...not so much. My hair was wet, so that was probably my first mistake. I may try again on dry hair.

Re: Three Strand Twists?
@traveljunkie08- Was your hair soaking wet? Or just damp? I haven't done them in ages, but I think my hair was usually damp when I did them (i HATE doing any twists with my hair soaking wet). It kept them from shrinking like crazy, but was still damp enough that the twists coiled around each other well.

Re: Three Strand Twists?
@Wizarding Wheezer: It wasn't soaking wet but it was wetter than damp. I'm sure that was part of the problem. I want to start doing twists and braids on damp hair. Do you just let your hair dry "out", or do you put it in large twists to let it dry a little before styling?

Re: Three Strand Twists?
@traveljunkie08: My hair's always in braids (7-9 or so) after washing and I soak up most of the water with a fine-weave t-shirt. After taking each braid out and oiling my scalp, my hair's just a little more than damp before I get started styling. I can't let my hair completely dry out all over or it wants to act up. Not to mention that I wouldn't have the patience to wait for it to completely dry anyway!

Re: Three Strand Twists?
Hey ladies, I was inspired to do the three strands all over on my daughter's hair. Well, not quite all over but you know what I mean. I did this on wet hair, so....not the best. Ah well. Definitley takes longer than the 3 strands, can you tell I started to get lazy? lol
I'm hoping we get a nice twist out from this for Thursday....we'll see!

Hope to see pics from those of you who try it!

Re: Three Strand Twists?
They still look great! I can tell you my first attempt looked nowhere near that good! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] IMO 3-strands tend to go awry MUCH easier than 2-strands when wet; I think maybe because the pieces are smaller?
