Question about Jamila Henna
I bought some Jamila Henna today at a Indian store for $2.49! Isn't that inexpensive! Anyway I want to try a henna gloss but I am not sure if I bought the right type of Jamila Henna. There is no date on it and it doesn't say if it is BAQ. The box was covered with plastic wraping, the henna came in a plastic pouch, and inside of the box there is lettering that says HENNA FOR HAIR.
Here are some pics of the henna:

Is this henna ok? Has anyone tried this kind of Jamila Henna? I just want to make sure because this is my first time trying henna and I don't want anything bad to happen.
Thanks in advance,
Tria

Re: Question about Jamila Henna
Hi Tria, I've used that henna many times. I had no ill effects from using it. It conditioned and strengthened my hair. It is harder to get out but other than that, I did not notice a big difference between it and BAQ Jamila henna.
Re: Question about Jamila Henna
Thank you ChrsLvsBks for replying. I am glad to find out that this is not bad henna. So when you said that you didn't have any ill effects from using this henna, does that mean that it did not lossen your curl pattern either because I DONOT want that to happen.
Re: Question about Jamila Henna
I use this henna as well, and I believe Curly Nikki uses the same brand

Does it effect your curl pattern?
Re: Question about Jamila Henna
Some people say it does somewhat while others say it enhances their curl pattern. I guess it all depends on what type of curl pattern you have. To me, it strengthens my hair and seems to make it easier to detangle.

Re: Question about Jamila Henna
To the curl pattern question I havent seen a dramatic difference in my natural hair (transistioning from a texturizer) but the texturized ends got so loose that I had to stop and stick to hennaing my new growth. Henna has a cumulative effect so if you go crazy and henna once a week like CN did you will see a loosening pattern in your curls.

Re: Question about Jamila Henna
I put my henna in my hair today (for the second time this month) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] I use the BAQ Jamila which has the crop date printed on a white label on the bottom of the box. When you open the box the actual henna powder is in a foil package with the crop date printed on it as well.
The difference between BAQ Jamila and just regular Jamila is that the BAQ is for henna tats and the powder is super sifted and easier to rinse out of the hair because of its smooth consistancy when mixed. HTH

Re: Question about Jamila Henna
Jamila Henna is the only brand that I've used, and I've had no problems with it! As a matter of fact, Im going to Henna at the end of the week. But this brand works well. Curly Nikki also uses it too, so I think you'll be fine!

jamila henna
I bought the Jamila henna that Curly Nikki uses. I used it 1 month ago. It did great making my hair softer, and conditioned, but the only complaint is that it turned my grey roots orange!! My black hair to off black!!! I would prefer to keep my hair all black, please tell me what to do. I want to henna again but am reluctant. I did here about something called Indigo, but need more advice how to use it. thanks all in advance!!!
Re: Question about Jamila Henna
I dye my friend's hair black with henna and indigo. I first use henna and let that sit for about 2 hours. Then, I apply indigo and let that sit for about an hour or so.

Re: Question about Jamila Henna
Do any of you guys know where I can get amla powder other than online? I want to add it to my henna gloss.
Re: Question about Jamila Henna
Tria, google your local Indian grocery store in your area. They should have Hesh Amla or other brands. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Re: Question about Jamila Henna
I just bought some Jamila Henna on Friday. I'm curious about it because others talk about how great it is for your hair....Don't know when I'll try it.

lol.... I'm just curious what color it will turn my hair. I've seen pics of people that use it and it looks like they get reddish highlights. I'm just wondering since my hair is already red what color will it turn? Will it make it a darker red?? I think I'll wait til the fall just in case it makes my hair darker.

Re: Question about Jamila Henna
When I first put henna in my hair, it left an orange tent on my dark brown hair and turned my grey hair a orangeish-copper color. After a couple of weeks, the color darkened and my hair became a reddish brown color. My grey became auburn. The color change wasn't a big deal to me. I loved that my hair doesn't shed as much, is easier to detangle now and actually feels softer.

Re: Question about Jamila Henna
i saw the Jamila Henna that Tria posted at my local grocery store, but I was scared to buy it because it didn't have a batch date on it. So if I'm correct, everybody says that this brand is ok to use.
Also, has anybody ever used Hesh's Mehandi. It says on the box it's 100% mehandi which I assume is henna. Please correct me if I'm wrong. This one doesn't have a batch #. I also saw a Mangal henna that has a batch #. I tried to post pictures, but it's not working. Please let me know if anybody uses these brands.
