My First Compliment

I BC'D two years ago and had been wearing micros without a break since then. I wore my natural hair for the first time two weeks ago.

My hair is currently APL and I wore it straight the first week and in a bun the 2nd week with some ecostyler gel. On wash day I decided to go buy some KCCC to experiment with after I wash my hair, so I threw my hair in two cornrow like twist one on each side thinking no one will be paying attention to me.

I was in the Whole Foods store listening to the sales person explain all about KCCC when I spotted a pretty curly TWA coming around the corner. She stopped to listen to the salesperson too since she was interested in KCCC.

We talked for a few about KCCC when she asked me if I was all natural and complimented me on my hair saying it was so pretty.

She left with the salesperson only to return a few minutes later alone to find out what I used to grow my hair vitamins etc.

Here I was thinking my hair was looking a hot mess and received a compliment. I was on cloud nine for the rest of the day. I didn't even experiment with the KCCC after that since I felt like I must have been having a good hair day. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

My BF was a little sad since he considers himself to be natural growing his dreads and no one said anything about his hair.

Well congrats on your first natural hair compliment! Doesn't it always brighten your day especially when you feel like you look a mess?? lol

Congrats! Its always encouraging to get compliments when you're not sure about how something will turn out. The unexpected ones are the best. lol Your hair looks nice. Do you ever do twist outs or loose styles without flat ironing?

I haven't yet. I wore the micros for two years straight until 2 weeks ago so I am a total newbie to actually styling my natural hair but I will be experimenting on the weekends now.

That is the same thing I did! I just started styling naturally on my own at the beginning of may this year. It is so much cheaper to do it yourself. Congrats again. =]
