The further I get into my transition the more frustrated i get with styling it...the new growth is taking OVER! My once fierce bantu knot out now looks limp and lifeless. the ends look like they are hanging on for dear life. . .
Today i wanna cut it all off but im afraid tomorrow i wont wanna walk out the door for work. . . Anybody have any words of encouragement? i need them right now!

How long have you been transitioning? The longer your natural hair grows, the stringier your ends are gonna look (in my experience). Have you tried the twist and curl? That might add volume to your ends.

What products have you been using to style? And do you style on wet or dry hair?

Okay, well it's good that you're not doing it on dry hair. My other suggestion would be to do things smaller i.e. smaller twists or bantu knots. The smaller you do it, the tighter the curl will be, and the longer it will stay put. You may also want to consider using a gel. I like the ORS Twist N Lock Gel (it won't make your hair lock) because it's light and my hair always stayed moisturized with it, and it held pretty strong without me having to use a lot. And I'm not sure how you're sleeping, but if you're trying to do TNCs then I suggest loosely re-twisting it at night and putting your rollers on the end. For bantu-knot outs, I know when I did them small they stayed put the entire week, especially if I did them on wet hair and let them air dry (a process that would take a couple of days ~lol~). When you take them out don't manipulate them too much just separate them enough to cover the parts for twists, and knots, if you must you can massage the roots a little to cover the parts but try not to manipulate the curls too much.

Also, when you sleep be sure to use a satin bonnet.

Hope that helps Smile

I sleep in a bonnet and with a satin pillow case (just in case i sleep the bonnet off) IDK what it is with my relaxed hair but i have to separate them a lot. idk if its too thin to look full or if my hair is just a pain in the a$$. I have tried to make them smaller it hasn't helped. the only style i can successfully achieve is a flat twist out and honestly im getting tired of those.

Try rolling the relaxed ends on drinking straws (that you can cut to size) and secure with a bobby pin. This works for me.

It just takes a few seconds to roll it on the straw. My relaxed ends will be in tight curls for several days to a week.

The time necessary to roll it up will depend on how many you use. I divide my hair into about 10-15 sections, then apply leave in conditioner etc., braid each section and roll the relaxed ends on the straws. That takes me about 30 minutes.

Yes, it is very easy to sleep on and it fits under my satin bonnet.

I hope this helps. I was ready to give up and BC until I discovered this technique. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Don't chop unless you can embrace the possible results. I was a long term transitioner and I would suggest to style your hair while it's wet. I followed all my cowashes with a leave in conditioner such as Giovanni Direct Leave In and added more moisture by shingling Curls' Curl Souffle(Ricky's NYC) and sealing with either unrefined shea butter or castor oil. I always set my twists with gray perm rods and this style lasted for days. To protect my twists at night I would bantu knot them and cover with a satin cap. Not only did this extend the style but it blended my two textures very well. Take a look:
