What to do with the leftovers
Hi there,
just sharing a little this afternoon since there may be some who are new to henna and don't know what to do with what's left. Well if you have enough for a 2nd application then henna paste (as long as it doesnt contain indigo) can be frozen. Just kinda put it into a ziploc baggie, squeeze out all the air and wrap it in foil for longer keeping. If you have a resealable plastic container you can also freeze it in this. The key is no air, no light to keep your henna from losing it's dye content. If it's not quite enough to freeze and you use a simple mix like lemon juice henna, honey and/or some EO then why not try your hand at some body art!! It's very therapeutic and beautiful (once you get the hang
of it :-).
Here's one of my freehanded, nursing changing baby attempts at body art :-)

Re: What to do with the leftovers
looks good! I wish my hand could be steady enough to do this! I can not even apply polish my right hand!
Re: What to do with the leftovers
OMG! I want one!!! My aunty uses her leftovers to make ankle tattoos. I'm definitely going to do this...I saw some stencils at Whole Foods.
Re: What to do with the leftovers
thanks so much, lol, it's easy to do without stencils too and you can be more creative ;-)
I love doing this it's one of my hobbies!!

That's beautiful. In parts of Africa they use henna to paint their nails. Just apply it to your nails at it stains them red. The more applications you use the deeper the color gets. Maybe I'll try it on my toenails the next time I henna. That way, if I don't like it, they'll have grown out by the time spring arrives! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Re: What to do with the leftovers
Thats lovely sis...I was just thinking of trying my hand at some body art. I might test it out on the bottom of my foot or hubbys lol.
Re: What to do with the leftovers
Do I have to mix it all at one time? If I don't use all of the powder how do I store it? I just opened the package of henna and it is 150 grams and I don't think I need that much. Can I just close up the pouch and put it in a plastic bag and keep til next time or should I just mix it all then freeze what I don't need? HELP!

@Corygentri: You can store unmixed henna in a plastic bag, preferably in a dry spot away from direct sunlight.

That looks great! How long do you have to leave it on before the dye stains?
