I went natural:
i decideed to go natural becasue perming my hair was destroying it. it was lifeless and kept breaking off. since i stopped perming i just flat iron my hair and it has been doing great. i am now entertaining more natural styles mainly becasue during the summer and while on vacations my press n curl is just too much work.

I also like the results I got from an ACV rinse that I made the recipe for myself and added EVOO:-) A friend of mine is telling me to try real coconut oil so thats next. I just dont want to buy a bunch of things only to use them once and realize my money's been wasted..

Hello all, i'm from Washington, DC where i work as a Data Technician. i had my last perm in Apr 2010 and just big chopped about 3 wks ago, this is my 3rd time going natural but i have a different outlook on it this time around so i don't think i'll be going back. My fav products are Carols Daughter Healthy Hair Butter, Carols Daughter Tui Hair Smoothie, and Miss Jessies Curl Meringue, i haven't found a shampoo and conditioner that i can't live without so i'll definitely be skimming the boards for suggestions.

Ladies sometimes I get so frustrated with my hair - don't know what to do with it, how to style it and I think of going back with relaxers in my hair...everyone is like "NOOOOO, are you crazy, you got good hair", but as short as my hair is, it is so hard to manage at times and I get so frustrated, I heard about this site on Tyra Show and so far I have been trying alot of styles, some don't work out, but I try and try and I even make mistakes that actually look good [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] ...but I'm still trying to adjust, I did a BC years ago and then got fed up and relaxed, until last year I was in hospital for trying to commit suicide, I suffer from major depression, I survived and I just decided the day I got out of hospital to cut all my hair off as a challenge to myself to start fresh....still depressed but trying everyday. Glad I came across this site to see different things I can try with my hair.

My name is Ihuoma (pronounced 'Eee-hwo-mah') and I'm a natural hair addict! lol!!
I'm from Nigeria but I currently reside in Sunny Southern California.
I'm an Orthopaedic Registered Nurse (for now)
I was natural for the first 16 years of my life and I was blessed with a healthy, thick head of naps and a wonderful Mother who knew how to take good care of it. But as a teenager I started to crave straight hair and begged my Mom for a perm and she reluctantly agreed. The perm really damaged my hair and it took a while for my poor scalp to recover. But anyway, I've been completely natural now for about 3 years and 3 months and I've BC'd about 3 times, not for any particular reason except that I have a sad love affair with scissors but I'm getting cured now..lol!
I'm definitely a PJ but so far, my fav products are unrefined Shea Butter, Unrefined Coconut oil, Castor oil, KBB Hair Nectar, Aloe Vera gel, Herbal Essences Hello Hydration.
