Re: MARSHMALLOW ROOT POWDER
I found Marshmallow root powder to give excellent slip. The powder is gritty so I use it in henna, amla, and bentonite mixes (any powder mixes really). Just remember to rinse out extremely well.

Re: MARSHMALLOW ROOT POWDER
I've actually used it by steeping it in hot water and I add some drops of burdock root or any other EO that you have on hand. Then when it cools i strain it and use the liquid as a final rinse after a co-wash or a dt. The only con is that i can't stand the smell [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] but it conditions great!

I've been curious about this. I saw a youtube vid where Richeau mixed it with bentonite clay, but I have no idea where to find it.

@ CocaColaCutie: I found mine at a local health food store. It's usually sold with the natual tea's. You ca buy it in a tea bag (less messier if your steeping) or in bulk if your going to mix with other items.

Re: MARSHMALLOW ROOT POWDER
If I wanted to get the "slip"benefit of marshmallow root, I would make a tea, strain it, and then add the liquid to whatever concoction I was making. No mess, no worries, and it does work. You can add this to shampoo, conditioners, or any of your treatments if tangles is an issue.

Re: MARSHMALLOW ROOT POWDER
it has great slip. I add it to every powder treatment I do
Example:
50 gram Cassia Obovata
1 1/2 tablespoon Hibiscus Powder
1 1/2 tablespoon Marshmallow Root
1 tablespoon Amla
Amazing soft results.
I get mine from Mountain Rose

Re: MARSHMALLOW ROOT POWDER
What probably was unclear, so I will clarify, is it is probably a good idea to wait 15 or so minutes before you add the marshmallow root tea to your mixture. I don't know exactly how long to wait b/c I make mine before hand, not immediately prior to use and keep it in a glass jar in the refrig. What I can say, is there is a nice mucilagious liquid ready and waited. BTW, not the super mucous looking stuff that results when you make flaxseed gel (makes me nauseated!). When bought in bulk, the root reminds me of shredded tree bark. Hope this is helpful.

Re: MARSHMALLOW ROOT POWDER
Good luck with that Angel. The powder is not readily available where I live, so I have only used the root. I like using the root b/c the pieces are fairly large and sometimes I don't strain. I just take a fork and remove them. FYI - I add 1 c of hot water to 1 tsp of the root and add that to distilled water in a large spritz bottle and it can be used to detangle, if you want. For me, works like a charm. I don't routinely have tangle issues; however, a couple of treatments and a couple of shampoos/conditioners I have used caused tangles, so I keep it handy.
