Catnip: Have You Tried It? Empty Catnip: Have You Tried It?

Post by CoarseDame 5th November 2009, 8:11 pm

Hey all!

I have been meaning to ask you, have you tried catnip? After reading a little here and there about catnip, what I gather is that it can help promote hair growth. I have seen catnip rinses and people putting catnip in their henna...what kind of catnip?

I have a cat and he goes crazy at the rustling of the bag, I am absolutely terrified to apply this in my hair because he is one crazy cat, lol.

Anywho, can you share any catnip experiences (if you have a cat) or recipes that you have used the catnip in!

I look forward to everyone's response.

Lol, yeah it's one of those things you have to google. I have catnip but I don't think I want to put it in my hair. I have also read about catnip tea. I had no idea such thing existed. I wonder if this would be in the tea aisle in the grocery store!

I actually have some catnip and I use it as a hair rinse. I never used it by its self for a tea. I mixed it with some other loose herbs I had but didn't like the taste. Here's a link about it for internal use

Do you mind sharing how you use it? Like the steps you go through?

I use a tablespoon or so of the herb and add hot water to it. I only measure the herbs I use not really the water. I let it sit for awhile until it is warm, then I add ACV to it and use it as a final rinse.

What's ACV? Does it make your hair shiny or stronger?

Have not heard catnip is good for hair before!

i heard that catnip tea is also good for relieving menstrual cramps. that would be a good enough reason by itself for me to try it. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Like Kinkynest, I use herbs in an ACV rinse. Catnip is great for
promoting hair growth.

I tried it after reading the rave reviews about it on the Long Hair Community. I intended to use it as an herbal conditioner. Unfortunately, with only two uses I saw my usual hair-shed double its amount, so I won't be trying it again. I've never had adverse affects with other herbs.

a blogger reviewed it: http://thefeistyhouse.blogspot.com/search/label/Catnip

In the second post she said it increased the number of her split ends but of course every person's hair is different. she reacted pretty strongly against it though lol.

@MsIconic: Yes, catnip tea is good for menstrual cramps and as a sleep aid but it has THC in it, so it may show up in a drug test if you drink it too often.

@CoarseDame: I have heard of catnip as a hair rinse but I never tried it. I'm not sure how a cat will react to you once you have used it as a rinse, but I have washed my hands with soap after touching catnip and my cats will still be able to smell it on me.
