I hear its great for your hair, but I personally like have black hair. I really dont want any hint of red or brown. Do they make henna that has a black dye? I wouldnt mind going darker.

You can get the same benefits of henna by using AMLA.

You could also try mixing your henna with indigo. Head over to hennaforhair.com for additional info and recipes.

If you want a true black it would be best to do a two step process where you apply the henna first, rinse out and then apply the indigo after that. Mixing it with henna and applying in one go would result in a reddish brown. This is how I started out but then I applied them separately as I prefer the black. It's time consuming but I get a natural looking, shiny black.
