I'm going to get to try some new goodies from curlmart.com next week. I'm very interested in Curl Junkie. Any experiences?

What products have ya'll tried in the Karen BB line? I've been planning on trying some (at you guys' request), but haven't gotten around to it. Remember, I'm not a huge fan or protein!

I have used the KBB hair milk and hair nectar. The hair nectar was a little bit lighter, so it worked better for me as a leave in, but I like them both. They are both pretty moisturizing and the scents are AMAZING Very Happy HTH!

I LOOOOOVE KBB Hair Milk. I have it in the Pomegranate Guava scent, and it smells heavenly! I get complements on the smell often. I love using it as a leave-in.

I love Curl Junkie, I use the following products and had great success:

-Curl Assurance Aloe Fix Hair Styling Gel

-Hibiscus & Banana Deep Fix - Moisturizing Conditioner (as a leave in)

-Curl Rehab Moisturizing Hair Treatment

Please note that I wear my hair in coils for the first week, then rock a coil out for the second week. The only product that I may put on my hair is coconut oil if I feel that my hair need it. I am heavy-handed when I initially apply my products. So my hair starts out crunchy for two days then is soft (I don't mind the crunch because my coils stay in tact for a while), this works for me. Marsha (from CurlJunkie.com) has put many different techniques on her website and blog to combat crunchiness and other things.

I found that the KBB is too light for my current protective styling regimen, but my mom who has 3A type hair, LOVES it. She does the wash/wet and go.

My fotki: http://public.fotki.com/joycurl/

Hope this helps.

I prefer Karen's over most lines as it is more natural. Several products I see referenced to on here claim to be all-natural but they are PACKED with chemicals!! Not KBB. And the scents are crazy great!! I use her hair and skin care products. My BF has a texture similar to yours and can't live without the hair milk/nectar (more natural than other famous hair milks out there). I use super silky because my hair is fine. People also rave over the hair butter (my mother and sister are obsessed with it). I LOVE the shampoo. I could go on and on about this line. Definitely get some. Check this out if you haven's already seen Empress Ri's product review (I know most of us watch her reviews religiously!!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2w2vArXDKYc

Well I have tried a few products from CJ

Moisture Rehab - I like it!! Dont like the price! Will stick with Jessicurl WDT.

Hibiscus & Banana Deep Fix - didn't have enough slip for me and I wasn't crazy about the smell

Smoothing Gellie - hit or miss product I had some GREAT hair days with this and some not so great hair days.

Aloe Fix - Although it defined my hair without weighing it down my hair felt really dry at the end of the day

Honey butta leave in - this actually felt too light for my hair. I thought I was gonna love it.

Dish on KBB or Curl Junkie Empty Re: Dish on KBB or Curl Junkie

Post by rugbyfifi 3rd November 2009, 2:28 pm

My thoughts on each:

Curl Junkie - I have recently tried the "Coffee-Coco Curl Creme" and
the "Hibiscus and Banana Honey Butta Leave-in." At first usage, they
are both really nice products. They smell good, absorb into my hair well, don't
leave any type of white residue, and by the end of the day, my hair is not
frizzy and the curls are great. My only problem with Curl Junkie is their
ingredients. WAY too many chemicals! You can only wear this stuff for maybe a
day or two before you must get all of these chemicals out of your hair.

KBB - In my opinion, these are the best products out there right now. All of
their products are hand-made and pretty much 100% natural. I use the Hair Milk religiously,
and can use it over and over without my hair having a straw-like feel (like
after using products with lots of chemicals). Also, I see a lot of the sistas
above mention how good KBB products smell. This is the TRUTH! There are no
other natural products out there (that I know of), with such heavenly scents.

Finally, if you're looking for something else to try, I also LOVE the Shine and
Define Serum from Oyin Handmade (http://www.oyinhandmade.com/). Again, this is
a natural product, filled with moisturizing ingredients, and I love it!

I love KBB! I have a huge stash of hair milk and hair butter. Her hair nectar was a little too light for my hair. If you are sensitive to scents, I would order them unscented. Her fragrances are nice but they are too strong for me! The only smell that I can stand that's pretty light is the Egyptian musk. The fragrances will last for days, no kidding.

I like the hair butter- because it literally melts as I put it in my hair.
The Hair milk also helps me with detangling, and is a nice leave in.

My nose loved the Curl Junkie Hibiscus & Banana Deep Fix, but my hair hated it. I tried it multiple times and multiple ways too, because I'd heard such good things.
My hair also hated the KBB Hair Milk. I tried it as a leave-in in the fall. However, it loves KBB Cream and Butter. I'm afraid to try the Super Silky or the Nectar. That's okay though because my current leave-in and I are happy together.

Dish on KBB or Curl Junkie Empty KBB Hair Milk

Post by ChrsLvsBks 12th November 2009, 11:53 am

I love KBB's hair milk. I purchased an 8oz size from someone on a swap. The scent was honey oatmeal. The scent was very light. I used the hair milk as a leave in when I was visiting a warm, humid area. My hair held up well although I would typically use more than a leave in and oil to seal. I had gel with me but wanted to see how hair would do without it. I used about an ounce to an ounce and a half then sealed with KBB's jojoba oil (cranberry cocktail--love the scent). My hair stayed moisturized and soft all day.

I will definitely purchase more. I also did a test to see if my hair dried quickly with it. My hair dried in four hours compared to eight hours or more with most conditioners I leave in.

Post by yokiedokie 19th November 2009, 8:09 pm

Ok, so I just ordered some KBB products since I've read such good things about the quality. I ordered:
Luscious Locks Moisturizing Hair Mask - I hear that this is amazing for DTs!
Hair Nectar
Hair Milk
Hair Cream
Hair Butter

I got a bit carried away, but I figure if I don't use all of them, I'll give some to my mom and bro, who also have natural hair styles.

I am planning to spend my 2 week Christmas holidays soaking up some sun and swimming at the beach. That will be a good opportunity to put the moisturizing power of these products to the test.

Post by Pinkrage 21st November 2009, 10:10 pm

I recently tried KBB based off one of my sorority sister's recommendation. I can't recommend it YET because I haven't used it enough BUT I can say that I do really like it so far. I purchased the winter regimen for $50 (shampoo, conditioner, butter, and hair milk). I thought that was a good price for everything.

As everyone else have mentioned...it smells GREAT. I have the coconut mango and will definitely purchase more of the hair milk and butter in different scents. I use the hair milk everyday to moisturize my TNC and it doesn't build up.

Dish on KBB or Curl Junkie Empty Luscious Locks Hair Mask

Post by yokiedokie 29th November 2009, 1:47 am

@kinky+curly+fierce

So I tried the Luscious Locks Hair Mask this weekend and I must say I give that sucker five stars. For my hair, it worked better than the Jessicurl Weekly Deep Treatment and far better than the AOHR.

Although the mask is not very thick it coats the hair easily and I only used about 1/3 of my 4 oz jar. I let it sit for an hour under my heated hair wrap and rinsed with cold water. My hair felt fantastic, it was really really soft and curly. Karen recommends that you use it once a month but I might have to try it twice a month.

I want to give this another go over the coming weeks to see if I get the same stellar results. I also want to compare it to the Sitrinilla from Hairveda and the Darcy Botanicals Deep Conditioning Mask.

Keeping my eye on this thread...I've been wanting to try KBB for a while but haven't ordered on line because I have no clue what scent to try and I keep telling myself to head out to Brooklyn to the store and haven't done it yet. I really need to try this line...
