Frizzy ends O_O Empty Frizzy ends O_O

Post by meepmeep1101 27th March 2011, 11:17 am

I know what to do about , I just don't know why it happens.

So the other day I was tryna see if I cut off my frizzy end would my hair be smooth. So i took a little section of my hair, ran my fingers down to see where the smooth meet the rough frizzy and I cut it out. then my hair started started becoming frizzy again! O_O I already know I don't have any perm, and i have triple checked that when I had cut it off. MY ends have only been smooth once.

Well what do you do about it? And do you know why this is happening?

My ends are never really smooth. I don't believe it has anything/as much to do with damage as people suggest. I've searched and searched and I still don't seem to get split ends (SSKs aplenty though!). I'm still transitioning and my hair goes smooth-ish natural hair, frizzy/puffy natural hair, smooth relaxed hair, frizzy relaxed hair. Who the heck knows what's going on?! geek

yea. i dont have spilt ends either. and i have only seen 1 SSK. lol. Just super frizz. even when i slick my hair up and stuff, there is still frizz but when u smooth ur hand over it, its wavey and soft O_O. So i'm scared for buns in the future.

I wonder if the products you use are not closing your cuticles. Sometimes, frizz is a result of the cuticles being open. Do you notice your hair having more tangles than normal? One way to help it is to use products that are more pH balanced for the hair.

My hair doesnt really tangle. the d3 goes straight through it. lol. nd when dry and i put my finger through. i get stuck on like 3 hairs. I was PH balacing my hair for like the first 6 months, but i dont notice a difference. So I don't think that matters?

I am going ayurvedic next week. So excited. Very Happy

When you rinse the conditioner out of your hair what temperature is the water you're using. Also, when you poo what temp is the water? As Nhappy mentioned, it sounds like your cuticles are not closing for some reason.

PH Balanced - check
Appropriate water temp - check

the only other thing I can think of; are you sealing your ends?

yes I am. lol. only one time did bring out my ends and they were not fuzzy. I use to do my hair the same way every other day. lol. I would make 2 twists and twist them together and kinda make it into a bantu knot and tucked it underneath. (from twisting the 2 twists, it created a pocket) and i would just keep my ends in there. for 10-30 hours.

Could protein be a problem? I've seen some youtubers who have complained of frizz and using a protein treatment to clump curls. Just a suggestion!

I am not protein sensitive, so I actually use a lot of protein. My cowashing codish is a protein conditioner.

I wondering if anything will change after I start going ayurvedic O_O..hmm

I think it might just be uneven hair? Cuz i can take a small section and just keep smoothing my ends with my thumbnail and the skin of my pointer finger. I do that like 2-5 minutes (lol) and its a lot better, but sometimes it reverts back. lol

@Meep...I'd suggest redoing the strand test to determine your hair's porosity! My hair went from LOVING protein to CALLING ME NAMES for using protein. I was doing frequent protein treatments and using products that were protein heavy...result...rough, frizzy, dry ends. When I redid the strand test, my hair went from overly porous (needing lots of protein) to low porosity (needing less protein and more moisture). I've eliminated the protein from my regimen and it's starting to feel a little better (with the exception of a monthly henna). I'm waiting till my next wash day to do the Kimmaytube leave in as suggested by all my fabulous curlfriends in hopes that the PH thing will help!

Let us know what your strand test reveals!

Well I measure my porosity on how long it takes my hair to dry when not in a style. My hair use to be very porous, usually drying under 2 hours. Now it takes about 5. but my ends have always been like this O_O. I just thought it was my perm, but now since i had cut it off in NOV. Idk wat it is. lol

The dry time could also be due to added length. It's worth a try...cuz we running low on suggestions...LOL!

I had an ACV rinse at the end of last week. that test thing never works for me, thats why i go by drying time. well I did just run my fingers from my ends to my scalp, and it feels normal. its not a rough as it use to be, and its not smooth.

Clarify what that means! Some floated to the bottom and others stayed on top? Or it basically stayed on top, but parts were slightly submerged under the water line?
