Carefree Curl Gold

I just wanted to see if anyone else has tried...wait for it...Carefree Curl Gold. Yeah, I know, the Jheri Curl juice (images of "Soul Glow" and everything)

I thought the same thing too when I was reading Kurly Bella's blog post about her favorite products. But, I went out to Walmart (of all places) and bought a bottle for $3.99, and I have been in love ever since.

It's light, non-greasy, and leaves my hair as soft as cotton all day!

Am I the only one who has found this holy grail of kinky curly hair?

(I almost forgot: It has all the right ingredients for natural hair)

I actually use this a lot in the summer and I love it! Glycerin is high on the ingredient list and is one of the ingredients my hair loves and its great for hair in humid weather. I also like to use the Long Aid Activator Gel in the summer also.

@Krazy Coils - Yes! Somebody else likes this stuff too. So I guess my hair likes glycerin. I see you live in the Atlanta area too, so even in the winter months, we have a lot of humidity in the air. Carefree Gold is my new staple

Yep - that's one of the items I bought because I saw it on YouTube. I actually like it quite a bit.

Yep! I've been using the Carefree Curl liquid activator in the gold and red bottle for my daughter's hair for over 10 years and we've never had a problem with greasiness. I just use water and CFC and that's it--a masterpiece everytime, lol. I use Hawaiian Silky 14-in-1 in my hair and I swear by the stuff. We love glycerin in our house and we use it year-round.

This is really good stuff to know. Thanks ladies. I'm so glad I finally discovered CFC as Fleur calls it.

WOW, I guess I have to buy some for my twa. I don't know what products to use that are not so exspensive. BTW YOu ladies that have BC'd come on over and join the 2011 BC growth challenge ! It's for 1 year and we just document monthly our hair growth, products we like, pics etc. Having a twa is a challenge some times and we all need to support each other!

@fanmnatirel - Thanks girl! - About how to use it CFC - I use it like a leave-in. After I co-wash or wet, I apply about a half dollar size amount all over my head. I finger style my edges and any other frizzy areas and that's it. If the climate is especially dry, you can reapply as needed throughout the day without rewetting.

For $3.99 I am going to try it, it can't hurt. My hair is always dry and frizzy. I still have not figured it out.

I've been looking at that at the beauty supply and have wanted to try it for a minute now....I have to be honest and say i did put it down because i had flashbacks of the "curl" days. I was being a product snob . Maybe I'll try it on me and my daughter's hair too. Does anyone use it when wearing a wng? What do you use for hold?

I know, I know. I was a product snob too when I first got the idea from Kurly Bella. Read her review, and maybe you'll lose the "soul glow" images I used to use Eco Styler Olive Oil gel daily for hold. But, since I'm still in the TWA stage, I really find that the softness, curl definition, and all day moisture I get with CFCG is sufficient. I really don't use the Eco Styler every day anymore. I'm a one product a day girl these days. When I grow enough hair to start wearing twist outs, I'll probably return to the gel, but who knows - maybe not.

BTW, what's a wng?

It's so funny that I just looking at this product in the drug store today and I was so skeptical that I didn't even pick it up to check out the ingredient list. (my first reaction every time I consider a new product to try) To be honest, all I could think of when I saw the bottle was "Curl Activator = juicy, overly shiny, dripping jerry curls." lol. But now that I'm seeing all of these great reviews, I may just take a trip back to the pharmacy tomorrow. Sounds good!

I use Carefree Gold also. Love it! I use it as a daily moisturizer. Keeps my hair soft all day.

WNG is short for wash n go.

I've been looking at this product for a while now myself. Actually looked at today but like everyone else I was afraid it would look I had a Jheri Curl. I see it at Dollar General all the time. I think I'm going to try it now. Thanks!

Yes, I use CFCG daily as a wng or wet n go.

I'm gonna have to see if my dollar store sells it!
