Natural Hair gon' make me LOSE MY MIND!

I have been creamy crack free since june of 09. i used to wear my hair in twists and a pretty bomb afro. lately i've been stuck. i don't know what to do with my hair. i'm tired of the twists and dont' feel like wearing an afro. my mother suggested that i braid my hair and keep it like that for a long time. while i'm raising the change to get that done, i'm still lost on how i should care for my hair. what products should i use? what kind of regiments should i stick with? it's been almost two years but call it say i'm still new to this. if anyone can help that would be great.

something to know: i have bad allergies towards dairy, eggs and seafood. i don't think there's any hair products with seafodd but hey.....why not put it there, can't hurt.

oh and my hair has been breaking like mad. what could i do to aid that? i'm almost afraid to touch my hair because it breaks soooo badly.

Ditto on the advice by Blonde, you can also do a search on hair breakage within the forum here and it will bring up all of the post and advice and tips on how to combat hair breakage. the shampoos, condish or other products you're using could be the culprit to your hair breakage also are you moisturizing your hair and sealing in the moisture with either a butter such as shea or some type of oil?

i use shea butter on my skin. i like to use it on my face(i can get dry skin easily in some spots).
the products i use are: suave professionals almond and shea butter shampoo, motions professionals CPR triple action leave-in conditioner, sometimes i use cantu shea butter grow strong strengthening treatment, other times i have just used pure shea butter in my hair.
not too long ago i used a placenta hot oil treatment. my hair was really soft after that but i hadn't used it recently.

Yeah- I think your mom is right...try some kinky twists...that can help take your mind off your hair...
At least that has helped me in the past...

As far as products...i stick with Quemet Biologics and my hair does not break at all...and i have minimal shedding...So a good moisturizer might be what you need.
