New to Henna
As I sit and watch teen mom, I found myself checking out the forums for hennaing hair because I just did mine for the first time. BUT I just realized that I forgot an important step in the henna process, adding conditioner to the recipe! Now I'm freaking out because I don't wanna be stuck with a head full of hay when I rinse it out in a few hours. Can someone tell me what not adding conditioner to a recipe will potentially do to your hair and what I can do to prevent this?
Thanks,
Shaniqua

Re: New to Henna
hey,
I personally haven't mixed henna with conditioner and I hear most naturals do it when they are doing a gloss. i think curlynikki posted her recipe for it somewhere. I use green tea for dye release and then mix the henna with organic honey and that's it. i think you'll be fine. Just be sure to DC after.

I hennaed plenty of times while just mixing it with green or hibiscus tea. Sometimes I add a little honey after the dye release just like Curly Film Chick does. I just did a hefty DC afterwards and again in a few days and I was fine.
I've done it the gloss way too and I loved it it because it shaved a little time off my henna treatments since I don't feel the need to do an additional DC after doing a henna gloss. To me that's the main advantage.

Re: New to Henna
Hello Ladies! What is the difference between a plain henna and a henna gloss? I'm confused
Re: New to Henna
a henna gloss I believe is 50/50 of henna and a conditioner (without silicone or protein, recommended) while a "regular" henna treatment doesn't have conditioner. Some use the gloss because henna can be drying and its moisturizing. CN wrote a post about it as well as her recipe somewhere on the blog. Hope that helps!
