Post by deeply_rooted_chick 30th November 2010, 7:15 pm

Hey so tomorrow is december 1st which is my one year natural anniversary. I wont trouble you guys with too many pictures just a before and after. I have to say doing a monthly journal of my progress just made time go by fast because I saw my growth which is all I really care about.

My hair in the front is nose level and the back not sure. It long enough to hang down my neck but too short for me to grab behind me lol.

Woooooork it! *giving you air-snaps*. That's good growth! I'm sure no one would mind seeing more pics from you. I know I want to see more. I did the BC in July, so I would love to see how you styled your hair when it started growing out. I've been all over the net grabbing pics because that time is coming where these little wash-n-go hairstyles won't cut it.

Again, congratulations!!!!! I love your hair growth. It looks so healthy and gorgeous.

Thank you so much I have to admit I'm pretty low maitence but here are some of the styles I rocked so far when I decide I want a treat. I really just keep my hair in twist all week then detangle and rock a fro on the weekend. Twist outs and rocking defined curls just isnt for me.

Well, we are definately on the same page. One of the reasons that I was having a hard time in the beginning was because I was so low maintenance in my relaxed days, then I bc'ed and went product-crazy.

That part in the middle is similar to my style now. I part my hair on the side, throw a headband in it, and call it a day. Even though I have curls, my goal is not to have them "popping". As long as my hair isn't dry or frizzy, then it's all good.

So I have a question for you. You made it through a year and went through winter. What did you do for your hair on cold days when it was short and begging for moisture? You're wisdom
is appreciated, lol.

I actually did what apparently you are not suppose to. I did wash and gos everyday. Well really put my head under the water and spray S curl on it and leave in and went. I still saw growth even though I walked out in the cold with wet hair. Idk if I'm lucky or that idea of no wet hair in cold is not that big of a deal, but it works for me.

Thank you Bria Beauty and naturallyme

I hear ya gurl. I am trying to keep my twists in but my hair craves water. when I wet my hair with twists in it turns into a frizzy mess. So I wet and style at nights (wash and go) and when I wake up my hair is mostly dry. The roots are still moist which is a good thing for me anyways. Even during the transitioning days damp bunning was a godsend.

I really want to try it but when I feel the slightest strain on my edges I know I'll take it down. I wet my twist everyday I guess I never really get fazed by the frizziness of my ends as long as they are held together to be protected from breaking.

Congrats!! Crazy how in the beginning a year seems so far away then when you make it, it seems like only yesterday that you started.

Thank you everyone. So last night my friend taught me a new protective style that I like but I might keep to a minimum because my hair is short I had to blow dry it to get it and I'm not a huge fan of heat here are some pictures.

It is one french roll going around U shape on my head. It is a protective style because your ends are hidden under your hair. I cant wash my hair in this style so we will see how it goes. Smile
