Parting and sectioning hair
Can any one give me tips on how to part/section hair. I have a really hard time doing this. I can never get my hair in nice sections for twists. I make a part and it is to big, to small, or when I start to twist the other hair is falling over into the section.
Re: Parting and sectioning hair
Sure thing--first, clips or clamps are your best friend when twisting. Try to section off in large sections before sectioning off smaller sections. Use the clips/clamps to hold back hair that is not being braided or twists. You will also have symmetry and a better idea of the style.
Use a rattail comb to clean up parts.
Use two mirrors. I put a scarf through a handheld mirror and hang it on the bathroom door. This way I can see the back of my head.

Check out #7 on the link below. It explains the brick method. There are a few other tips there too.
