How do you BUN?
I have been transitioning for about 8 months. I see on this forum and other sites that alot of curlies and kinkies like to bun. Exactly how do you bun (up high, down low) and please post pics if you have them. Do you have to have long hair to bun (sl, apl, bsl, etc..)?

It can't be that easy! I have a hard time getting my hair into a smooth pony tail with no lumps when my hair is wet. Maybe its because Im transitioning and have those 2 textures.

I'm only 11 months in, and I can understand your pain!! When I pull my hair back for a pony, or to bun, I brush my hair where I want it, grab half of my hair, usually the top half, and then bring the bottom half up to meet the rest. This probably isn't making a bit of sense to you?? but I sorta pony half of my hair at a time, vs trying to brush and grab all of it at once. My hair is way too thick for that now. And since I still had the relaxed ends, I would use a sock for stuffing because my relaxed hair is too thin lol.
Good luck with your buns girly!

Re: How do you BUN?
I just do mine damp.. plop some ecostyler or water or castor oil on my hands..slick back. Then grab an ouchless band, pony, then just catch the ends in - scarf it down for 10 minutes
Or I do a puff bun .. standard puff, then twist big sections of the back and pin - if I have time, smaller twists and pin (easily last 3-4 days)
Hope that is some help, mine is just past shoulder

Re: How do you BUN?
My hair isn't perfectly smooth when its in a bun, but it looks like it is! lol. I form the ponytail while my hair is soaking wet with leave in conditioner in it. After the ponytail is formed, I'll use gel (ecostyler or IC Aloe Vera) to smooth the edges/outside down.
With this bun I basically just folder my hair over a scrunchie and secure it with a few hair bands/ponytail holders:

With this bun I put my ponytail into three twists, wrapped them around each other, and then secure with bobby pins:

By the way, my hair is a few inches shy of APL and its crazy thick, so I never get an extremely neat bun. It works for me though!

Re: How do you BUN?
hi i just recently starting bunning. my hair is about shoulder length and super thick. i freshly wash my hair, and put it in a puff using a knee high, next i take the hair thats in the puff and two strand twist it and then pin the twist down on each other. lastly, i put on a scarf after adding a gel or hodling cream and thats it. it sounds confising proably but its really easy and only takes about 15 minutes max. here is a pic of mine
i origianlly got the idea from a post on glamazini.com

Tiffany, thats really cute. I dont think my hair is long enough yet for a cute bun. My hair is just to my shoulders.
