Moisturizing flat ironed hair?

How do you keep your hair from drying out when its flat ironed? I usually apply coconut oil and try to wear a scarf as much as possible. Anyone do something different?

I use a bit of Shea Moisture curl and style milk at night before wrapping and some coconut oil in the morning.

I would apply a non-water based moisturizer to full length of hair. I think I used a shea butter mix. I am sorry that I cannot remember. I applied castor oil to my ends to seal in the moisture.
