Shaping the fro Empty Shaping the fro

Post by Free2Be 2nd October 2010, 6:02 pm

I'm not sure if I even want to cut my hair now. I'm afraid I will allow the stylist to get scissor happy and then I'll be back at stage 1. In any case, since I don't want to wear a full 'fro out every day, I'm trying to work with my hair to get it into a flattering shape. It took me 30 mins. or so fooling with it until I got a shape I liked.

Freshly henna'ed, added Garnier Fructis Leave-In (Sleek and Shine) to sections, smooshed through Darcy's Botanicals Madagascar Vanilla Styling Creme, smoothed on Grapeseed Oil, then scrunched and tugged and pulled and fluffed and shake, shake, shake over and over again. I have no clue what to do to it tonight to keep it this way for tomorrow and/or longer. Any suggestions? I mean, I guess it's a WNG, but when I do those, I do it daily. I don't usually try to get more than a day's wear out of a WNG.

Thanks for any advice/suggestions.

WOW, that looks Good.

If you want to get it shaped and don't want to go to a stylist, go to a barber. They are good at following clear directions.

Free2be girl you don't need any advice - you're HAIR IS BEAUTIFUL. WOW. What's wrong with what you did - now that you've gone through that - that's your regimen. It's gorgeous. I love it!

Thanks, y'all! I'm just trying to avoid doing all that again tomorrow. LOL I think it took longer than 30 minutes to pat it/shape it, but it is what it is. I think I'll put on my satin bonnet tonight and see how that works. If it doesn't, I'll just try this again and report back later. :~}

*I've learned that the twists won't work...they straighten my curls too much.

DITTO! LOL

I've found the bonnet works to help keep my hair "shaped" for the night...you do have to pull and shake a bit, but it's pretty short & simple. HTH

I've had the best fro cuts from barbers, not stylist. One thing, tho - if someone is patting your fro as they cut - they are jacking it up.

Also, ask that they use scissors - those clippers can really mess up your ends.
