Shea Moisture Smoothie

What do you think about the Shea Moisture Smoothie? Did it work for you? Would you buy it again? I think it would work better if my hair was longer ...

I LOVE Shea Moisture Smoothie and am going to Target to buy more today! I have relatively long hair (BSL) but my daughter's SL hair shrinks up to her chin (or shorter) and it works for both of us! It smells wonderful, leaves our hair soft, shiny, and it really does enhance our natural curls. I use it as a leave-in moisturizer under stylers, as a styler itself if I want bigh hair, and sometimes deep condition with it. Oh and I've used it for twists as well. It doesn't have a lot of hold but enough for me and my daughter.

I just thought other people might what to know too. Geesh.

I do not care for the smoothie as a styler or leave-in. It has no hold and so-so moisture (actually, it dried my hair out a little when left on). However, after examining the ingredients I realized that it's basically a mild protein conditioner (which would explain the slight dryness I experienced). So, I slapped it on my hair, put on a plastic cap and turned it into an overnight deep treatment. To my surprise it worked pretty good. I prefer the Raw Shea Moisture Masque for my deep treatments, but it's good to know that I could use this as well.

Thank you @AimWard I thought I was the only one. It did seem like it make my ends a little hard!!! I will do like you and use it as a deep conditioner soon!

I am still debating this product.....I like it so-so while my hair is wet but when it finally dries....DISASTER

This is the first time I've heard negative stuff about the line. I just got the hair milk and mist in a swap, and I bought a sample of the smoothie, so I'll let you know once I give it a try

I love most of the line. I've tried everything except the shampoos and sprays. I just bought the curl enchancing smoothie even though it has protein - my hair doesn't care for protein. I used my mix of glycerin and aloe and the volumizing conditioner as my leave-in then I applied the smoothie. I did get a dry feeling to my hair. I didn't have the greasy, smelling results some experienced. But I've had to moisturize and seal morning and night so that my hair isn't overly dry. That has resulted in my hair not being as defined as I would like. I might try it one more time to see if I can get a better result. But I'm thinking that I really don't want to leave protein in my hair.

I didn't think to use it as a condish - that's a good idea!

Yeah, I am going to leave it as a deep conditioner at night until it's all gone. I may try it when my hair grows out a little more just for my twist outs. My hair may not like it because of the protein as well but I just have to see. I am still trying to see what is good for my hair.

I LOVE the smoothie!! omg its like my bestfriend..I use it as a moisturizer instead of a "curl enhancer" because it give my no type of definition but it leaves my hair super soft..after i seal my leave in with some oil, I apply i small amount of the smoothie and can immediatly tell the difference..

It doesnt mix well with KCCC though (learned that the hard way) so when Im using KCCC (instead of ecostyler gel )I dont use it

oh yea and the curl and shine moisture mist is also very good too!!
