But these twists are look fuuuuuuuuuuzzzzzzyyyyyy!
IDK what to do with these things. I'm thinking I'm going to take them out because they are starting to feel like they are trying to start the loc'n up on me. Like the top of the twist feels a lil dry and crispy like. I don't know what's up with that. Maybe it's the shine and define or the burnt sugar building up on it. Either way something has got to be done about this.
Maybe I'll wash and do something cute with my curlformers for my night out on Saturday and then either dry twist that on Sunday or pull keep it in an updo style for the week. But I've also been itching to experiment with some perm rods. I'm so indecisive when it comes to styling.
When my twist start to get fuzzy, I touch up each twist (I usually do this mid-week) by re-twisting. Oooh, try the curlformers!!!! You could have buildup? But mine get frizzy too.

That is a great idea! I never thought about that. I am going to try it today! I will report back.CocaColaCutie wrote:Also, watching youtube I discovered a neat trick for shampooing. Using an applicator bottle. That way it gets to your scalp easier and less of it gets on your strands. I'm going to try this out and report back.

I took your advice Chrs! I cowashed and curlfomered my twists. I did redo the front left side and a few on the right in the front, but I got lazy and figured that the curlformers would tame the rest. I am so glad I was right!!!
I pinned the sides up and fluffed.
here are some pics!
Oooh! Your hair turned out super cute!

I just finished shampooing and it worked great! I like that the bottle has measuring lines because I was able to see that I can use less than 1oz of shampoo to clean my scalp. My hair doesn't feel stripped but my scalp feels clean.

It seems similar to the MyGel I was thinking about (only not with all those wonderful natural ingredients) I'm hoping I can find it in a BSS so I can get it without having to wait for shipping. My cornrows need some serious work. I'm hoping to get off work in enough time to actually do something about it but we'll see. Likely it would just be a rebraiding, not a full out wash routine.
I have MyGel. I like it a lot. Just remember it does not play well with water. Only apply to damp or dry hair--a little goes a long way. The ingredients are all natural and moisturizing.
Have fun playing with your hair next week. I love Thanksgiving--three day work week for me .
MyGel....gotta go look this up!!!

Great I'm so glad to hear that this worked! I'm going to follow suit,
as soon as I can figure out what shampoo I want to use. I just did an
ingredient check on my shampoos and they all have sulfates! The least
offending shampoos are the Trader Joe's Nourish Spa, and Kinky Curly
Come Clean which both have Olefin Sulfonte towards the bottom of the
list. I'm probably going to lean towards the TJ because the KC gives me
that stripped feeling.

Let me know if you get it and like it. I ended up getting Hick's Edges which is by no means natural, but certainly does what it supposed to.

Re: CocaColaCutie--has some new friends!
Monday already? These weekends are never long enough. I had so much hair fun this weekend though!
I started off playing mixtress and whipped up a batch of whipped shea butter.
I mixed shea butter, coconut oil, olive oil, and some bss "raw shea
butter oil" that has: raw shea butter, canola oil, safflower oil,
cotton seed oil, wheat germ oil, jojoba oil, macadamia nut oil,
tocopherol, and fragrance and got:
I plan to use it on my body mostly but I got so much extra that I slathered it on my hair as a pre-poo.
Then I made my castor oil mix for tiashauntee's challenge using castor
oil and some bss tea tree oil that has: tea tree oil, canola oil,
sunflower oil, castor oil, olive oil, cotton seed oil, grape seed oil,
tocopherol, jojoba oil and fragrance.
I like the way the mix masks the smell of the castor oil.
I shampooed my hair using my TJ Nourish Spa. It snowed and I didn't
want to venture out for another applicator bottle, so I just took the
applicator tip off an old bottle of this relaxer base I used back in
the day and put it on the TJ bottle. Worked like a charm. I put some TJ
Nourish Spa condish on and then addes some Elasta QP DPR-11 and left it
on overnight.
Sunday I woke up, washed it out and started my mini twists. I'm not
really feeling them this time around. I think I was rushing myself and
got lazy so my parts are kinda big and I also experimented with some
flat twists on the side and in the front. Later that night I set them
on curlformers. This is what I got.

Re: CocaColaCutie--has some new friends!
I applied my castor oil mix last night and my scalp just sucked it right on up. I'm still trying to decide how many nights a week I want to do this. I know at least two. I'm thinking three nights...Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. I guess I'll just see how everything is feeling. My ends are still very moisturized. I love that Natural Oasis stuff!

thanks!
Y'all...I'm barely four days in with this new set of mini twists and I'm already sick of them. I've been dreaming of big beautiful flat twist out hair. And why does it seem like all the naturals I see in the DMV have the curliest, most voluminous wash-n-gos ever! I want to join them! But I'm gonna stay on this twist challenge. I think I'm going to do a major retwist this weekend so they can hang more like I want them to. I also want to experiment with cornrowing them. If this blizzard doesn't come thru this weekend I have a birthday party to attend and I need cute hair for that.

Don't give up on the challenge! Maybe you can do a twist n braid n curl (braid your twists and the curl the braids). I think that would give you some of the volume you want. I'm so jelly! I can't wait til my twists are long enough to curl!!

What a creative style....like that your put your oil in an applicator bottle. That' what I'm going to do as well. Are you going to re-do your twists every week or co-wash sometimes?

Maybe make your twist a little larger - do you think that will give you some volume?
