Hey! I'm willing to be a big sis to someone who is transitioning. I was a long term transitioner (a year) and I BC'd on May 22nd. My hair is pretty thick and kinda coily (my shrinkage was ridiculous while transitioning, it's even more crucial now ~lol~) I didn't transition with weaves or extensions, so I can't really help you if that's what you need advice on, but I can help with establishing a regimen (especially if you're on a budget like I was) and some styling tips and general encouragement. me too! i could use one..lol...dont know what your limit is...im knew to naturality....did my bc in late jan...im trying to learn all the terms and i have a small fro...im looking for stylin tips and jus the confidence to wear my hair...as of last week i started to two strand flat twist the front and then i wore it in a twist out style...so anything new and exciting works for me.

I was looking to mentor people still transitioning. LOL, but since we BC'd around kinda the same time we can just be "Sisters" and work on it all together? LOL

Okay, @Muz- I'm here [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] I need help. I've been in a post relaxer stage for about 6 mos. I need help on styles, products, lessons learned, everything and anything that you can share with me. I have no intention on doing the BC. The only styles that I have been wearing are the roller sets (which my husband does not like - no suppport there on this journey), flat iron (which I don't like all of the heat) and braids (which works with my workout schedule). Thanks!!!

Hi Naturalin2010! Have you considered a silk wrap? Basically you do a roller set, then you comb that out and wrap your hair, cover it in saran wrap and you can either sleep on it, or sit back under the dryer. Here's a good tutorial on that on YouTube. Mahogany Curls You can do that when you want to rock it straight.

I'm lucky I didn't have do deal with anyone else's opinion, I just did what I wanted to my hair. LOL. Does your husband just not like it curly? Or he didn't like your rollersets in specific?

Yes, I've seen MahoganyCurls video and absolutely love it!! I may have to revisit that again and try it. But, I really want to try something that I don't have to "maintain" too much since I like to work out. No, my husband does not like it curly. My curls are not that small/tight, but he says I look like Shirley Temple or a chia pet (you may be too young to know either Smile LOL! I've been reading your blogs and you have some good tips. I am going to try some of your regimen that you did in the beginning, especially with some of the hair products. I may have to try the bantu knots, I like that video-very simple tutorial!

Well I guess you're just going to have to help him mentally transition with you because when you ARE all natural, your hair is going to be. . . CURLY. LOL

and I loooooooooooove bantu-knots. I wish I could get them with the looser curl, but I won't be able to do that for at least another year I bet, but I like the smaller curls too Smile
