What's a hair healthy product to use in place of hair gel?
I'm a new transitioner and I like to do protective styles on my hair such as twist-outs and braid-outs but sometimes I just get lazy. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] On those days the hump in the front and the bun in the back suits me just fine but I haven't yet found a product that helps me slick my ends back. I used to use hair gel but I know it causes build up and is so bad for my natrual curls. Is there anything I can use to help my slick my edges back so my buns stay fierce? I've heard Jam was good but I just wanted more opinions.

aloe vera gel works pretty good for me but it doesn't have strong hold (but gets the job done if I put a scarf on my edges for a little while before leaving the house)
I use fruit of the earth aloe vera gel

I just bought Blended Cutie Down and Out Styles which is great for wash and goes and has a good hold so that I will be replacing my gels with this one. Its a thick cream base and super moisturizing!

On a side note I love your picture! It's so cute! Plus your hair is gorgeous! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] I hope my TWA looks that way after I BC.
