Dry Crunchy Hard Lifeless TWA Empty Dry Crunchy Hard Lifeless TWA

Hey Yall

I BC'd in February, and my TWA still wants to act a fool...

I cowash with V05 in the beginning like every other day, I deep condition with HE Hello Hydration or Aussie Moist, or i would do a DC with EVOO and EVCO. I used also DC called NaatCream. I work from home so I was doing the baggy method all the time...the only thing that did was left my hair feeling wet and stinky...it really wasnt moisturized. Lately I have been adding EVOO EVCO Castor Oil all too my conditioner and setting under the dryer. My hair feels like it has moisture and is not dry for that day only in the morning its back to feeling dry and crunchy....

I still use V05 to cowash but my sister said i was washing to much so that why it was dry, i dont think so, but you got to know my sister, arguring is pointless. So this week i washed it monday,,,(i only cowash, i clarify with baking soda) deep condition with the NaatCream and all my oils and my hair felt great. I put in some two strands, I used Bee Mine Curly Butter, ive done it with CD Healthy Hair Butter and think that works better. Everyday I have put my homemade shea butter concoction (Shea, EVCO ECVOO and Castor oil) on them when i take off my satin bonnet in the mornings. I have a TWA so not everything gets twisted, I notice the hair in the twist does feel softer than the pieces not twisted but overall its still dry and crunchy. I have been moisturizing whats not twisted with the shea butter mixture as well.

I thought maybe the twist would help me retain moisture better than the wash n go...my hair would be so dry by mid day with wash n gos ...and it is better in the twist but I still think im missing something. With my wash n go i would use HE Hello Hydration as a leave in then put in ecostyler to get some curl definition, which i still suck at trying to achieve, and then top it off with Castor Oil, it was okay but not optimal....I have tried Califia Styling Pudding for my wash n go but didnt real see that much difference from the condish and gel, except the eco (I have just the clear one) flakes up bad with my HEHH.

I have super thick 4 something hair...i guess,,,,my sides have no curl definition at all and neither does this one lil piece at the nape of my neck...crazy its straight as can be....actually the entire front edge of my hair has lil curl definition...

I am by no mean disillusion by my hair type nor am trying to make it be something its not, i just want to be able to get a decent wash n go, cause i love the summer and being able to wash and go really appeals to me and i want my hair to retain moisture and be healthy.

Any and all suggestion about products for super dry suck up mositure like the world is coming to an end hair would be greatly welcomed along with any other suggestion someone would like to make about techniques (did i mention i suck at wash n gos), and anything else that you may think would help me.

Also, I dont think its my diet, i eat well, exercise daily and drink plenty of water and take my vitamins...but who knows cause my face wont stop breaking out but thats another topic for another board...

Thanks yall

I had the same problem with dry crunchy hair after my bc, but after I did this treatment my hair took a turn for the better. It's a caramel treatment and you can get the recipe here: http://www.curlynikki.forumotion.com/general-f3/anyone-doing-caramel-treatments-t3392.htm

I've also stopped using gel. I'm able to get soft, shiny wash n goes without it. I really hope this helps you.

I did this one time when i was transitioning but have not did it since i bc'd. I am going to try this again. How often are you doing this? Now ive heard people say this straightens your hair, so have you noticed any changes?

I've only done it once so far and my hair is exactly the same, but much softer. I will probably do it twice a month.

I big chopped in February as well. Congrats! The only thing that helped my dry hair (and I have been battling this since 2006) is drenching my hair in butter and spraying it with a glycerin based spray. (oh, and I have super thick 4B hair!)

Butter I use:

Avocado Butter
Olive Butter
Sweet Almond Butter
Qhemet Biologic's Amla Heavy Cream
Carol's Daughter Healthy Hair Butter

Spray I use:

Pink Short Looks SazzAFrazz Spray (the best spray ever)

I actually found the butters worked for me. I used the Carols Daughter Healthy Hair Butter and my hair felt oh so good.

It's funny you mention this. I've decided to stop using gel to now as well, at least until I find out what works best for my hair.
