As you should, it is full, moist-looking and defined. I love the little coils at the end.DvaAuNaturel wrote:sweetdrk1 wrote:Go head with the day two hair!!!krazy coils wrote:Two day hair looking good! I can see the sheen too!

Congrats on helping mom come to the curly side. I do my mom's hair most Saturdays now since it is warmer out, press and curl is a no go in the heat, lol.

Good Morning Curly Divas,
Another feel good day! TGIF my curl friends.
My twist out is hanging in there. I checked out OOOOP2's curl friends thread, since I absolutely LOVE her hair, to see what I could glean from her experiences too. I notice my hair is a little frizzier today so I need to know what to do differently next time, since I plan to twist again this weekend. I plan to do like Curlique who retwisted smaller and so neat. I'm going to take my time, not that I rushed last time, but just to make sure it's really nice and neat. I'm even of thinking of trying OOOOP2 shea butter mixture with a little leave in condish on my wet hair so I can ensure everything is SUPER moisturized. I think this will help with the frizz, if I read her post right.
I fluffed my hair this am with my hands, which had some coconut oil on them. How do you all avoid frizz with your twists/twist outs, especially with your 2nd, 3rd, 4th day hair?
Today's hair:
I wore my earrings that Notthecoolmom made me and have received soooooo many compliments. I'll definitely be ordering more in other color varities. A co-worker was like, those are so unique, you'll never see anyone else with them. I like that....being a little different.
Enjoy your day ladies and have a fabulous (and safe) holiday weekend!!! Off to check up on everyone else.

Frizz shows up on Day 3 for me...and Roxie tends to get dry too. If I dont wash, I retwist with a light product to refresh the style.

I guess since my hair is naturally prone to the frizzies, retwisting will have to be part of my style maintenance with my twist outs.
Thanks! What type of product do you typically use when retwisting?

Hey Curly Divas,
I had a really fantastic Saturday....relaxing and doing much of nothing. I mentioned the other day my mom is going to just rock the natural hair. So, today we played with her KC products. She loves them! She couldnt' stop looking at her curls. We're driving down the street and I see her looking in the rearview checking herself out...LOL. I'm excited for her and told her that there will be trial and error. While I was checking my CSJ thread I showed her some photos. She was very impressed.
Now for my hair, I decided to retwist tonight. It was looking really fuzzy. Here is what I did.
Co-wash - YTCucumbers
Condish-HE HH
DC - SheaMoisture Deep Conditioning Masque (1.5)
I decided to follow Oooop2 twisting regimen. After I rinsed the masque out and cold water rinsed, I applied Giovanni Direct Leave In. Next, I twisted using Oooop2 shea butter mix but also added a little Qhemet Honeybush Tea Gel to my fingers so I would have some hold. I'm under the dryer now so that everything will be firmly in place, nicely defined and hopefully eliminate/minimize the frizzies. Oooop2 actually recommended the gel and dryer to help. We'll see how everything works out. I did the twist very small this time. Total twisting time was 3.5 hours. I plan to leave them in for several days and take out mid-week.
I'm burning up under this dag on dryer....ready to get out...LOL.
I'll post my results tomorrow....good night (morning).

Hey DVA,
Can't wait for those pics. I think when you're still in the twa stage you have to retwist more nightly. As your hair grows out more you will notice that you can get away without the nightly retwitsting of the twistout.

i been out the loop; LOVIN ur twists n outs; definitely love the earrings ntcm made too!! dont mind those raggedy co-workers, dmn haterz!!
u used a good combo with the amla n honey balm but if u need more hold add a touch of gel (tea bush) that should do!! i cant wait to see ur results! sorry i cant offer anything on the frizzies cuz i know by day 3 and sometimes 2 my head is a frizzy mess!
and put that dryer on low/med heat; i normally do mine on cool sometimes too but if im in a real rush i'll do medium...just make sure its not dominican salon dryer HOT!!!

Yea, I like the lower heat settings too, NubieNatty. Irritates my scalp otherwise.
Dva, since you're in MD, do you plan to keep a cowash going for 3 days at a time this summer? If so - do you have a reggie in mind? I am a little worried because it's so darn hot. Our weather is almost identical. I am finally getting somewhere with washing (1 cleansing wash, 1 cowash per week but I don't think that's gonna fly this summer.
I am heading over to Oooops2. Thanks!
Love the AVI!

Hey Swood,
You know, I didn't even think about how much I might cowash or change my regi for the summer. Guess I need to huh...lol. I noticed that before I twisted I had decreased my co-washes to maybe 2x/week. I'll probably keep that up for the summer, unless I'm twisted. With the twists I don't want to disturb so I will only co-wash weekly, along with my DC before completely retwisting. Also, since I do a modified CG method I do a low poo 1 (maybe 2x/mo if needed).
Thanks for the heads up....now I gotta contemplate a summer regi.
What are you thinking about doing?
Enjoy your day!

Thanks Nubie! You know I don't think my standup sit under dryer has a cool setting. I'll have to check it out.

Re: DvaAuNaturel
Good Afternoon Curly Divas,
I am so happy with my twist results. The suggestions from Oooop2 and her method for twisting have my hair looking pretty darn good today, if I might say so myself.
See---
There isn't any fuzz and they held up nicely. I think the combo of the gel and ensuring they were well moisturized made the difference. I don't want to have to retwist midway so I hope they will hold up w/o any frizzies for a few days. Depending on that, I'll do my twist out either Wednesday or Thursday.
Enjoy your day ladies!

Re: DvaAuNaturel
wow!!! Pretty! You did a great job! I see you put a lot in.
For this summer I have no idea what to do. It's my hair's first summer and so far, it (she? no name yet) prefers to stay in twists as well. I am trying to think of something because I don't have the patience to twist other day and I bet that I will be co-washing that often. I hate the heat. I know I will be co-washing.
I wish my hair was longer because then I would co-wash the twists and pin them up. I have a lot of hair jump though so pinning on my hair at this length isn't an option because my twists curl up into little sleeping caterpillars and I don't want to put any tension on then yet. (poor little babies!)
IB mentioned this as well. I like your twists and may try more in my hair. I think that will work sometimes. Other than that, I am clueless.
Have a great Sunday!!
