Jan 2010 after two years of wearing half cap wigs(also the last time I had a perm) I decided to show the world my hair lol I didn't know much about taking care of natural hair hence the wigs lol. So I decided to flatiron my hair at this point.

Ah, thanks ChrsLvsBks and Freckledmom4! I don't do anything special, other than work out 5 - 6 times a week. I think it's in my genes. My grandmother is gonna be 98 in December and she's still getting around strong! Also, as someone else posted, I think natural hairs takes some years off of us all!

I cannot believe the transformation in my hair. Looking back, it looked so scraggly and undefined. I had no idea what I was doing. Then I discovered amla and my hair world changed and my hair started to grow, grow, grow! I ran out of Amla in February and the indian store JUST got it back in so maybe I can get more growth.

Beautiful!!! I love your lush hair! I want you and Lynnieluve to share your secrets. I have my Amla & Shikakai, I know ayurvedic is the truth, but I'd love to know how your using it. I was mixing 1 tsp of amla and 2 tsps of shikakai and putting them through my coffee maker, allowing to cool and then washing my hair. After a deep conditioner, my hair didn't shed, it was silky and perfect. However, I was relaxed, so I have yet to see how it will do natural.

Ok, here it goes:

2007 (relaxed) with my best friends
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

2009 Relaxed...this is when it goes downhill. It'll grow shoulder-length and break off. This happened every year for the past 5 years!!!!
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

August 2010...Just about a month Post-BC
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

September 2010...2 Months Post-BC. Due to today's extreme heat, I gave my hair some extra moisturizer using Curls Revitalizer Spray, (which I LOVE because it really works long after I put it in)
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Today with Curls Revitalizer Spray and Giovanni Leave-In. It looks greasy--but surprisingly, it wasn't! It dried soft and shiny.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Finally, do you like this pic? Don't I look sun-kissed and dewey? NOT!!! It was almost 100 degrees in San Antonio today and I was sweating so bad in my long scrubs. I looked at this picture and decided that I was NOT taking another one. Sweat means that I work hard, lol.

Oh girl! I remember every Sunday night when I was in Junior High sitting in the kitchen by that stove with that metal flat iron laying on the eye smokin away! My grandmother said that she used that same hot comb as a little girl. I can feel that metal burning my scalp and my aunt trying to blow on it as it scraped my scalp talking about "That is not metal burning you, that is the grease melting". Yea, whatever! That was metal to scalp, not grease! It did look pretty from what I remember but you could sweat it out easy.

You are too kind! Lynnieluve has AWESOME hair! I was natural for years but in November, I finally started "feeding" my hair. First of all, I cannot believe I went around looking like that in that November picture Shocked . Ooooh and I thought that was cute, lol!

I started trying to make my hair look better by visiting my local indian store. I asked the woman behind the counter to tell me what hair products she had to make my hair shiney, healthy and retain length. She filled up my basket with these things and told me these things about those products:
1. Amla - to promote hair growth and strength. Adds shine and good for scalp
2. Henna (Jamila) - to strengthen and retain length. Adds shine
3. Vatika Coconut oil - to penetrate the hair shaft and add shine
4. Vatika Enriched Olive oil - to seal and add shine
5. Ancient Formula Almond Herbal Hair Oil - to penetrate the scalp to promote growth
6. Nyle Herbal Shampoo - when using henna, you must use Nyle to wash it out she said
7. Madra Sunflower Oil - for oil washes and moisturize
I am telling you, that woman had a braid down her back as long as my leg and as thick as my arm.

When I used these 7 products in conjunction with each other. I gained about 6 to 8 inches in 4 months. I know that sounds crazy but the pics don't lie! I even started to grow new hair from my scalp. In my hair, I have a 7 inch twa within my hair. I did not think that I would sprout new hair from the scalp but that is ok. I will take it! WHen my hair grows, my scalp itches like crazy. My scalp itched for 4 months and it drove me crazy but I knew that meant growth.

Anyway, from November to February, I has every oil known to man in my hair. I started with the Amla. Even though my Dh says it smells like an old man's urinal Rolling Eyes I used it every day and I did not wash it out. I put Amla in my conditioner, shampoo, henna and some in my shea butter. THe Madra Sunflower oil was used as an oil wash. She said that you do it once a week on dry clean hair. Pour the oil onto your hair and massage it into the HAIR, not the scalp. Sit under a dryer if you can for at least 30 minutes. Then wash out with the Nyle.

She said that when using herbal products you have to use an herbal shampoo. She said that Nyle and Henna go hand in hand. That is about it. I have not had Amla since February but I just got some so I hope that the growth will start back up. I hope that helps!

Thanks Lynnieluve! I did a twist out using Blended Beauty Happy Nappy Curl Creme. I had it in the back of my cabinet and decided to give it a try. The next time I use it, I will add a little Eco, because it didn't hold as well as I'd like.
