I am a long term transitioner and am not planning to BC until atleast a bob length.. I have always had long hair and am not looking forward to cutting :[ . Hello Ladies, it is so wonderful to see so many natural and professional women, seeing all the natural hair makes me glad that I chose to perform the BC. I have been natural for 28 days now and loving every minute of it.

Where are you from: I was born and raised in East St. Louis, Il but now reside in Cincinnati, OH. I met my husband here 7 years ago and we decided to make it our home for now. He is a retired Marine from North Carolina.

What you do: I am a Project Specialist for Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center with a BS in Management. I am 1 year away from obtaining my MBA. I oversee a large scale of clincial research studies throught the US and some overseas.

Fav products: I have not found my staple but I do have some products that I use. I now use Creme of Nature Chamomile & Comfrey Nourishing Conditioner three times a week since I sweat so much from working out. I use a moisture active deep conditioning treatment called Creme of Nature Jojoba & Olive Oil once a week. I then apply Kinky-Curly Knot Today and Kinky-Curly Curling Custard followed by IC styling gel to smooth out my sides. Lastly, I apply Motions Marula Natural Therapy which is 100% Pure Marula Oil to add shine and help oil my scaple.

Hello everyone, my name is Naa Kwarley Quartey.
I am from Ghana, but I live right outside of Philadelphia - college, you see. After I'm done, I hope to go to medical school. I have been natural on and off all my life (in Ghana, it's not uncommon to be on-and-off natural as children). The longest I was relaxed is 5 years. I have been natural for about 10 months now. I am learning to take care of my hair. My aunt says my hair is too nappy and too difficult to be natural, so others can go natural, but I should be relaxed. I think my goal is to prove her wrong. We'll see.

What you do: Entrepreneur, non-profit motivational speaker on excellence in church leadership and virtual assistant

How long you've been natural: A few weeks. I transitioned for about 4 months but actually took the big chop a few weeks ago in the bathroom. The scissors almost won but I handled it and learning to love my hair. I wore a relaxer for 30 years because I wanted sleek, manageable hair. This is a new experience and I'm learning to like it. I tried it back in the mid-90's but didn't really do well because I had no idea how to take care of it and it was a frizzy mess. Not good.

Fav products: It took awhile to figure out which products work for me and how to use them. I use Pantene Pro-V Relaxed and Natural everyday to condition. I shampoo and condition with Mizani and use Mizani foam. I also use a curly masque on my hair but can't recall the name of it.

Hi folks, my screen name is Trini2dbone and I am from Trinidad. I only just started my transition (last texturiser was April 05) so I'm pretty new. Been wearing a short hairstyle for a few years but always texturised to make it more manageable :-( I simply decided that there had to be a better and healthier way so...here I am. I'm looking forward to getting all the support I can as I know I have a long road ahead of me. Hello, I'm new at this and so I've just figured out that I should've started here first. Sorry... I've been coming to this site ever since January 2010 when I decided to go natural. My flat iron broke and as I was researching on the web for another one I stumbled upon someone mentioning how their hair used to curl but it doesn't anymore and they thought it was the flat-ironing. I wondered why my hair didn't curl anymore but never put the two together. After reading for about a week and looking at You Tube Big Chop videos, my husband helped me cut my hair from shoulder length to about 4 inches all around and I started wearing wash-n-go's. I kept doing Little Chops until March 30, 2010 when I decided to cut the rest off. This avatar picture (taken April 12) is of my combination Big Chop/Little Chop. Everything is natural except the little bit on top that still has about 1 1/2" of Tex-lax hair (I pin curl it around my pinky finger and diffuse or air-dry). Learning alot. Very excited. Thanks for such a wonderful site....It's priceless.
