DIY Skincare?
Hey does anyone here make their own skincare products?
I just made a lovely body butter, using shea butter, cocoa butter, almond oil, coconut oil, and olive oil. I took extra care to melt the cocoa and shea butter very slowly, and mixed in the natural oils slowly with a hand blender. This body butter beats any and everything on the market. My skin is thanking me so much. I use this all over my body, and use pure raw shea butter on my face at night. I'm thinking of making these as gifts for my family and friends.
Unfortunately boyfriend says I look like a greaseball once I've done my nightly shower routine. However, once it's bedtime he can't keep his hands off me.....he he he.
I also make my own body scrubs and body oils. I use my body oil when I shower again in the morning (yes I'm sadly obsessive about being clean).
Anyone have any recipes or tips to share?

Great idea! I was thinking of making a body butter too. What measurements did you use?

^^ I second that!
Looking at the prices of a handheld blender and I'll definitely be considering that as a way to make butters/soaps etc..

While 'googling' other uses for vegetable glycerin I came across a homemade eyeshadow primer recipe:
3 parts water to 1 part glycerin; water and glycerin, that's it!
Mix 1-1/2 tsp water + 1/2 tsp glycerin; place in bottle and shake well
I used a makeup brush to apply to my lids; let lids dry 2-3 minutes before applying shadow and WOW did the color pop ALL DAY! No creasing or fading either.
I used a travel size make up bottle for my mix. This little bit will go a long way.

I make my own shea butter mix(whip shea butter, coconut oil, essential oils) and my own body scrubs. I posted this earlier but it fits better in your thread.
Here's the recipe. You can tweak the amount of stuff depending on what you need. I keep it glass next to the tub.
1 1/2 cup coffee grounds
1 tablespoon honey
castile soap to saturate grounds (I used peppermint)
2 tablespoon olive oil.
Mix until everything is combined
Wet skin, rub over rough patches and rinse.
This can be messy but it works pretty well.
