*Curlyboricua*
Hola chicas!!
Hey everyone I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has showed
me love on the start of my journey. I wanted to start off by telling you
what brought me here.
Basically I am biracial PuertoRican and African American I have semi
course hair. I was always brought up with my mother taking me to the
salon to get my hair done so my mom always wanted to keep my natural
curls very healthy.
the story goes on and on... anyways once I had my son my hair fell out..
yeah I know what everyone is thinking "what did she do to her hair??"
well, lol nothing I was getting in the shower and my hair started coming
out not by the roots but the ends. Yes, I went completely crazy...
anyways to make the story short my hair had to be cut to a small
afro...yes I hated it!! I freaked out!! I came to the realization that I
needed to start out fresh and just get my hair not just longer but
healthier. I love my hair and I am ready for this journey!!
I have come a long way... I really thank God for helping me realize that I am NOT my hair.
***SHOUT OUTS!!
THANKS TO CurlyNikki FOR BEING MY INSPIRATION!!

Thanks so much!!! The only thing is that I can not always get my curls to look like that every time. I am still struggling to find me the best leave ins... I love my Mixed Chicks Leave in but sometimes I like I switch up given that it is an expensive leave in and I would much rather find something that worked just as good but a tad bit less expensive... Or at least at a store where I can buy it instead of ordering it online...
I hope that made since lol..

Trust me, I know!!!!
I LOVE this site (esp the Butters and Bars threads) because all of us are on the same quest to find a routine that works--including finding products. I'm still on the hunt for a good leave in myself!

Welcome! Those curls are so pretty! Have you tried Giovanni Direct Leave-In? It's one of my favorites and I do like that I can find it in stores--Whole Foods and sometimes Target and Walmart. Good luck on your search!

Welcome to the challenge!!! Love your avatar!!! I second CocaColaCutie! I love Giovanni Direct Leave In.
Your story is similar to mine. I decided to go natural after experiencing post partum shedding. The only difference is I LOVE MY TEENY WEENY AFRO!!
I look forward to following your journey!!

It really wasn't that I just hated my "little" fro... I just I didnt really feel confident in my fro. I do not know what it was. wait I do know what it was I was mainly going through problems with myself. After and during pregnancy your body goes through changes...stretchmarks was my main thing that made me upset.. I wasn't use to having stretchmarks so when I got them my self esteem went down the drain. Now if i would have found this website when I was going through all that I think that I would have loved my curls. It just wish I would have found this site a while back when I was going through all that.... but that was then and this is now and I will forever embrace my curls whether my hair is short or long. I think it was Gods way of waking me up telling me that I was putting too much emphasis on my hair. I now know that my hair doesn't make me who I am.

I understand... I had a friend that transitioned while she was pregnant....When I told her I was thinking about going natural, she told me to make sure I dont do it while I'm pregnant. She told me it was plenty of mornings she would wake up and cry because of her hair.
I am happy you have become one with your hair and loving it!!
