Foundation for Dry Skin
I have extremely dry skin. I am yet to find a foundation that doesn't peel and look crusty. I'd like full coverage, and I want to be moisturized but not look oily. Any suggestions?

I use Prescriptives. I like it because they can customize the foundation to your skin. I dont know if there is a Belks in your area but that's where I purchased mine.

Ok. I believe they carry that at Macys. I'll have to check them out.

You could also try Bobbi Brown cosmetics or Laura Mercier. Both can be purchased at fine retailers like Saaks or www.sephora.com

Ok, thanks. I'll try to find a place that carries all three so I can try them out.

Hey! Well ur skin underneath the foundation is the key to a great application..have u tried a thick, rich moisturizer...? I would also look for foundation with oils in them to keep ur skin hydrated (esp in the cold season)...I dont know if you're a fan of MAC or not, but they have a foundation called Studio Select..I love that foundation (im oily so i looked greasy in the middle of the day with it on)..but i think its great for oily skin..either that or from previous cases..Bobbi Brown, Perscriptives,etc..almost every makeup line carries something for dry skin [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I've tried different lines. Even when my skin is super moisturizer I get the same crusty result. Or like I said the opposite looking like a grease monkey. I'm a huge MAC fan. But unfortunately none of their foundations look good on me. I've tried studio tech, studio fix, a few others. I wish they did because MAC has the best coverage. But I may have to try this Bobbi Brown out.

Re: Foundation for Dry Skin
I do think that having a healthy canvas to put your makeup on is crucial especially when wearing foundations. I know this from experience of my own and other people's faces. When I finally found my groove to maintaining my facial issues, my make-up looked much smoother and brighter. My face was like trying to paint on a oily bumpy canvas. I remember when I thought mineral make-up was impossible since it would dry up my skin so much.
So here's a tip to get the root cause(s):
You might want to try exfoliating your skin. As if you're finding that
even applying the heaviest moisturizer on your face still results in
dry skin, it could be the result of dead dry skin cells. If your skin
has layers of dry skin cells, it can make it harder for a moisturizer
to penetrate and provide hydration.
There are 2 types of exfoliating, chemical & manual. If you use a
chemical one that you leave on such as AHAs, BHAs, Glycolic
Serums, be sure to still use some manual exfoliation as the dead
skin still needs to be rubbed off. I would start with gentlest
strength weekly and see if that works for you.
Also do not forget sunscreen since your skin is much fresher with
exfoliators, it's more sensitive to sun damage. Wearing sunscreen
is good skin care health anyways.
And if you do not mind me asking but what is your skin care routine like?
Hope you find a solution that works.
