I am from Toronto Ontario. Compared to the rest of the country we have been pretty lucky weather wise. I have started changing over to winter hair style how are you guys coping with your hair? What do you to hair to maintain in through the harsh winter months? What do you do when you to your hair if you work-out during the winter months (whether it be indoor, outdoor or in a pool).

Let me know where your hailing from.

Are any of you up for the Vancouver 2010?

HEY! I'm from Toronto too! Winter is THE WORST for my hair! Unfortunately, I haven't been making an effort in terms of attempting to keep it moist. A friend suggested weekly (or bi-weekly) conditioning treatments and also wearing protective styles often! Hope this helps [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I have always wondered what constitutes as a protective style?

Styles that get you away from the daily combing/brushing and sort of keep your hair off your shoulders and protected. This way, your hair can sort of take a break and grow. Don't neglect your hair either, you've got to keep it moisturized when in a protective style. These styles include:
- buns
- weaves
- braids/cornrows/twists (with or without extensions)

It really depends on what works for you though. For example, I notice growth in my hair when wearing weaves and cornrows but not so much with extension braids. On the other hand, a friend of mine swears by extension braids, but not so much cornrows and weaves. Also, finding the right stylist helps! Some stylists will put braids in so tight, you'll end up sleep depreived for a week lol. So you've got to be careful.

Hope this helps! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
