I tried it once. I used DevaCare One as a leave in, but it really didn't work. The results were frizzy with no definition. You have to remember Terri is mixed, so her hair is like 3a. I'm 4a/4b, so I need some gel to retain curl definition. So I use a dab of EcoStyler clear Gel or Kinkycurly on each conditioner soaked section. But with gel, her technique of separating and twirling makes it work great. Good luck

Yes, I have. I have used HE HH and Pantene's Relaxed and Natural. I put some gel on top to hold the definition like savvybrown mentioned. If done like Teri, you can get a few days out of the style. I cannot wait until it gets warmer so I can try again. I think my hair's in better condition.

Let us know how it works for you.

Teri suggests using the conditioners she recommends. Your bad results might have been the conditioner you used. I'm looking at a pic of a lady with the SAME EXACT coils my daughter has (I've been searching for someone like that for MONTHS!) and she did the twirling each curl thing and her hair came out beautiful (there are pics of her process on Teri's site). So it does work for even 4a/b's if they follow what she says to do. I'm SOOOOO trying to do this so I don't have to be a product junkie! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Product junkieism is too expensive for this family. Teri's hair has grown so much so I think she knows what she's talking about...I'm gunna try it anyway....when I BC....for now I'm doing it on my daughter. I tried it once already and my results are in my fotki. I'm shopping now to get some good conditioners to use on the regular.

Thanks for the feedback, ladies!

Here's that ladies' results! I wanna talk with her!

It's basically "shingling" (what Miss Jessie's calls it). Curly folks have been doing this forever, Teri just stumbled across it and it worked well for her (I did it 2 years before I'd ever heard of Teri or Miss Jessie!). Smile But it's nothing new. Some use conditioner, gel, cream based products, whatever works for them. I don't do it often because it takes a while and the end results for me doesn't look much different than my wash and go. The style just lasts longer and is slower to frizz. FYI - my avatar is an example of shingling

I thought I had more recent pictures, but I can't find them. But I love this method using Tresseme, Organix Coconut Milk or Shea Butter, HE Hello Hydration (the bomb!), and Giovanni Smooth as Silk. Didn't like Pantene because it was too heavy or HE Tousle Me...but I didn't use my glycerin/aloe mix and my hair was super dry and just gross!

I recommend this method highly. However, I only cowash and still shampoo monthly. And I still deep condition when I shampoo. Like I said I use my glycerin and aloe mix under the conditioner that I leave in. I get a lot of shine. For the winter I've stopped this method because I noticed I need more moisture and wanted to try more protective styles.

Here is what not to do...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvSHeJYlAQ0&feature=sub

This style is very simple to maintain. I sleep in a satin bonnet, spritz and fluff in the morning and go! It isn't really high maintenance. Mine has lasted over a week. I had to start doing my hair more frequently because my back was tangling really bad, but my style was still on point.

The method on tightlycurly is usually the one I use on my hair. I am also a 4a/4b. In my avatar I used that technique using desert essence organics conditioner but it turns out a little puffy. Now I'm using KCKT and I get better more defined results.

RayMingy, that is KCKT is my avatar too ;p

I used it over glycerin and aloe...I love the curl definition I got from it.

HaHa you know what...in a different thread a couple months ago I saw that you mixed aloe vera gel and glycerin together so I tried it and I love it!! I've been using it underneath my products ever since. I also throw in some EOs to make my spritz a combo of your mix and the infamous Aloe Grow.

I can only do a puff after I use this method. My hair is a mixture of 3C/4A and it basically looked like curls sitting on top of an afro when it was dry. When I slicked it up into a puff it was really cute though!
