Curly November Challenge 09
In an effort to get out of our usual hairstyle rut, we will (I'm a procrastinator so I'll need help) be posting new hairstyles, treatments and/or products.
Here is where I list all the fun things:
1. Try out the hairstyle, product, or treatment and tell us what you thought about it. For hairstyles, post pictures of yourself wearing it!
2. Don't be afraid to deviate, come back and tell us what you did and how it turned out (pics invited [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] )
3. Have fun, be creative, embrace your curly.
So let's get it started. This month's Hairstyle Challenge for our medium-long hair curlies is the Cinna-bun, done here in a tutorial by motorcitymoxie
For our short hair curlies, the flat twist, fro back, tutorial by mnkato12
Tip: Another variation of this hairstyle is the flat twist to the front and individual twists to the back
This month's homemade hair product is growingnaptural's Shea-Honey Hair Butter.
This is new so any suggestions on what can be added to the challenge is appreciated.
Have fun and come back with pics and reviews, if you've done these styles/treatment before tell us what you liked or disliked about it. ^_^

I did more sections and poofed them a little for extra lift LOL. Mine is not as full as hers, but it worked and definitely looked cute!

Re: Curly November Challenge 09
I'm going to try and work on that cinnabun this weekend.
Succinctlyso, I've been considering my bc so much. I'm actually excited to get rid of relaxed hair and get on the with the natural just so I don't have to do much except roll out of bed, shower, and leave. I'm very much into your length and in a few months will be applying the scissors happily

The cinnabun is gorgeous!!!!!!!!! I will have to try that on my daughter's hair maybe next week.
Re: Curly November Challenge 09
I made a mixture for my son's hair yesterday using aloe vera gel, honey, unrefined shea butter, coconut oil, and EVOO. I mixed it with my hand mixer and it came out great! Nice smooth consistency and it melts like butter on your skin!

Both of my sons have curly hair but my 1 year old's hair is a courser texture. The curls on the top and sides are softer but the back is really dry and course. I noticed that his hair responds well to coconut oil and ok to a good amount of shea butter. So I made this concoction with some ideas taking from product ingredients and youtube videos.
I have only applied it to his hair once and it softened it nicely but today his hair was back to being really dry. It looks like I may have to put some of this on night and day for a few days to see the results. I will keep you guys posted and take pics as I go![/url]

jamaicacurl: Is the aloe vera gel you use the same as for sunburn? I went to find some at the drug store and couldn't figure out if there was a different kind for hair LOL!

Re: Curly November Challenge 09
Has anyone tried the Cinna-bun yet? I want to try it, but unfortunately I can't do my job if my hair is up that high (I wear a headset all day).

tiashauntee: I did it and I just made mine a bit smaller.

Yes, it is the kind for after sun exposure. I was told by a few curlies on another site that it was ok to use in hair since it doesn't a bunch of extra added chemicals and alcohol. It's the same as the Fruit of the Earth AVG sold at Walmart.
But if there's a better one I could be using, somebody please clue me in!

Nice! Was it as quick as the youtube vid? I may give it shot next weekend for the holidays. My in-laws love my hair so I won't have to worry about fighting off the criticism. I really don't get my family....

Here's my cinnabun. I had to get a lil creative in achieving it though. My hair isnt very long at all... but I like the style. I'm ready for the December challenge! Lovin all this new hair knowledge.
