Unlikely Product Combo & Awesome Results- UPDATE

Post by naturallychelsea on 22nd February 2011, 7:18 pm

So after using lustrasilk placenta and jojoba as a DC I got laxy and decided to leave it in as a styler for my twist out. I also used a little bee mine luscious balanced moisturizer and bee mine bee hold curly butter. I woke up the next morning with really defined hair sans frizz that was not at all producty, tacky, sticky or greasy. My hair was also super shiny and moisturized. All for around 5 bucks Canadian. I still cant believe it. Who would have thunk it.

P.S enlarge the pics to see what has me stunned

Has anyone else used lustrasilk for this purpose?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So I experimented more with this product and I am still loving it. I did a dry twist out with aloe vera gel, bee mine luscious balanced moisturizer and lustrasilk and I am still in love. I still got shiny defined results and this time it looks like a wash and go rather than a coil out. My hair has no build up and I am not bald nor am I experiencing any ill effects, Nali Razz
So here are the results:
Wow, you are getting your shine on! That is a twist-out? It looks like a coil-out. Either way, its cute!
@ambitious thnx so much
@madeaj thnx gurl and I hear ya. After stressing that I could not afford the shipping for all the popular brands it is nice to know that I can get good results for only 5 bucks!!!
@bajanprincess Thnk you gurl. I know it looks so much like a coil out. I think it occurred because I coil my ends to prevent my twists from unraveling and because I separated my hair alot (If I do not separate I will have really scalpy hair as it is fine)
thnk you nik and your daughter and her hair are gorgeous.
I'm a teen and have no child but I still frequent your blog to see the styles that I struggle to recreate Razz and joined your fb as your input, and that of your viewers, is really informative. It is so nice to see that mothers have taken such an interest in their daughters natural hair. If only mine had been so inclined...
Your hair does look great! So did you not rinse out the dc and just started twisting?? And do you know if the Lustrasilk is a protein dc or moisture? I have the shea butter and mango one but it really doesn't do anything for me :/
yes I did leave the lustrasilk in and used a little bee mine luscious balanced moisturizer and curly butter. It is a moisture treatment and has no protein as far as I can see from the ingredients list. I'm sorry the other one did not work but have you tried using it whilst baggying?
Okay, I think I can get I a bottle of this stuff LOL I'm going to wait if you don't experience any bad effects of keeping a DC in your hair for days, before I try it. Razz
Your hair looks so luscious and shiny! Smile
Have you tried the Lustrasilk Shea Butter Cholesterol Plus?
Do you think it would work similar as a leave-in?
(I already have that one lol)
Chelsea, isn't it great to find a low-cost alternative that works? Great job! It looks so shiny and moisturized.
Btw, you are doing a great job with the blog. It's a wonderful thing that you're doing for the young people!
lol nali I hear ya I would do the same. I don't mind being the human guinea pig and I do itend to report back. It is day two and my hair is still super defined
I have never used lustrasilk, let alone the one you have, but I would imagine it would work just as well. In fact curlynikki used one with mango to set her hair with much success. I guess you could say mine worked as a leave- in but you will never know what yours can do until you try it. But if you prefer to be a Nali you could wait until I give my final assessment.
Thank you so much fleur for the encouragement and kind words. I just hope that I can make things a little easier for some of the young naturals out there.
And Gurl I was so happy to find a product that worked that was not only cheap but available at my local BSS.
Yea I tried it many ways, regular dc with and without heat, overnight, and as a leave in. Im still on the hunt for a HG dc so I might give this a try considering its only $3!
