So I'm having my sew in done as I write this and I'm really nervous. Ii just really don't want any damage and this lady is not exactly gentle. Hope I'm doing the right thing. It's a lil tight but not so tight that its setting off warning bells in my head or anything. I was thinking of going home and wetting it though to loosen it up a lil. What do u think? What should this feel like? I'm a lil scared if you can't tell lol. I just wanted to give my hair a break...

I know how you feel. I think I would be like that too if I was getting a sew in right now. As long as you don't feel like your face has shifted up an inch as a result of the braiding, you should be good. The tight feeling will wear off in a day or two. Seriously, if you're having to take medicine to get rid of the feeling, take it down or ask her to braid a little looser. Wetting it won't loosen it btw so I don't recommend that... If you do keep in in a while, don't panic when you take it down. Expect to shed a lot. I've got my fingers crossed for you!

I just had my sew in done last night....I've done it a few times before and my stylist knows what she is doing so she doesnt damage my edges or kill what little hair I leave out with heat! With that being said its usually tight for a couple days after but I wouldnt recommend water that will not help! Good Luck and post pics!

As the other ladies have said water won't help, you should be fine in the morning. I'm getting my first sew-in since being natural this Friday. I'm coming out of my second installation of micros. I'm debating if I should straighten my hair, I did straighten it for the micros but the ladies did struggle a little bit with my hair constantly curling up until i gave them DevaCurl set it free to use on my hair.

Did you straighten you hair before you got the sew-in or did you just leave your hair in its natural state?

hey i just got my first sew-in last week and it is not tight at all. I am loving it so much, i am on day 5 and it feels alot better than day one. I am a little worried about putting some sort of moisture in my hair. She braided it going back and sewed the hair in from ear to ear. Its kinda hard to get in there. I have pictures in my CSJ if you want to see them.

post some pics for us.
