My first attempt at coils Empty My first attempt at coils

Post by Duchess52 30th January 2011, 10:51 pm

I did my first coils yesterday...so what you see is the 2nd day wearing my coils.
They are pityful....but what the heck...I went to my friends house today....no one said anything about my hair, but did I care....???....no way.....I love my coils.
It was very difficult to do the back though. I did not finger coil, but comb coil.
I am sure it will get better in time and also when my hair grows longer.....

Hey psbest..thnx for the compliment. Your coils look fab!!! How long did it take?
Yes I used some gel and a lot of a creamy leave in.
Don't know why, but I just couldn't form coils with my fingers....my hair just did not cooperate. And when I did it with the comb it was fine.
My TWA is really teeny so are my coils. I noticed that I still have some straight ends.

Maybe you put too much conditioner for the coils not to stay. I used leave in as well and left my hair damp with lots of gel and mines are still holding on. It took me around 3 to 4 hours maybe more since I took breaks but I think I will be doing this more often especially when my hair gets longer. I'm sure your hair will hold just don't be afraid to use more gel and make sure to let them dry before applying a night cap or anything. Well before laying on them wet. I see that you have looser curls but I am positive yours will hold even with it being that length.

It is quite possible that I used too much conditioner.
Next time I will use some more gel.
I still haven't figured out what hair type I am.

I washed my hair, conditioned, rinsed then did an ACV rinse. Applied my Organics Sheabutter and Teatree moisturizer as a leave in and sealed with my fav...... Coconut oil. I used a little bit of ORS Lock and Twist gel.
Monday and Tuesday morning I take sculpting classes ....I sweat a lot and it is very dusty so I'll wash my hair Tuesday afternoon and do the coils again. I'll post pics again.

Why is it that I have so few coils. You have a lot of them. Is it the length or the hair type??
I wonder?? Rolling Eyes

I love them @ MissyCee

@Duchess52 I can't wait to see them and try not to put too much conditioner especially when you first start them off and being that your hair is that length. So after the first day they should hold and then you can start spraying on water and applying your conditioner.

I also did my first finger coils on Friday. I still have them in and they still look great. I used leave-in conditioner and eco-styler gel and my fingers and it took about 3hrs. Everyone's hair looks GREAT! This will be one of my favorite styles for my TWA.

Thanks for the compliments ladies!

MissyCee...your coils are looking good. It looks as though your hair has the same length as mine.

psbest..scarves have always been my thing. As I no longer live in Europe...I wear my scarves in a different way...

Ms.Prisz you did a great job. I love your coils.

MissyCee and I have thinner hair. MsPrisz and psbest have thicker hair so the coils turn out different.
Now I really see the difference....one style, different length and different hair types.
YES....we rock our coils...way to go ladies!! bounce

Wow! I'm loving all of the coil pictures. This is one style that I have yet to try. I was planning on doing coils on my son's hair today though. I did a set on him a few years ago and the resulting coil-out looked great. Hopefully they will come out well this time too!

Keep the great coil pictures coming!

Ms Prisz, You made my day!!! cheers I hafe been thinking I've come to a standstill and was getting tired. But you said I have length. I cut in the beginning of August and I guess this 6 - 8 month area is when it looks like the hair is just sitting at you looking like, what's next???
