Hair Care Package or Starter Kit for a Curly
Reading around the hair forums, I have realized that there are millions of products that would produce great results. I have also learned that most of the curly veterans have learned to keep it simple...Reading through all of this information could become overwhelming for someone wanting to wear their curls...so,
If you were to put together a care-package or a starter kit for a college student, a new curly, someone overseas..., what would be in it?
I would keep it simple:
1) a great detangler like a Tangle Teazer
2) a simple recipe like kimmyatube leave-in conditioner mix
3) a resource like CN or moptopmaven
4) instructions for an easy staple stlye like a two-strand twist out, and
5) some great advice: to keep it simple and there are no rules...

I would include:
1) a wide toothed seamless shower comb
2) extra-virgin olive, coconut, and jojoba oils
3) a great conditioner like HEHH for co-wash/leave in
4) A link to www.curlynikki.com (main site and forums)
5) A hair flower for flyness!

Simple tips regarding moisture and its relationship to healthy hair that doesn't break and grows. I think we all have to have a mentality adjustment about water b/c in our relaxed days, we ran from water---LOL. Info about how to provide moisture and what products/methods, items (such as cotton pillowcases) remove moisture. I think this is huge. The most common complaint and frustration I see is "dry hair." So, I think this is an essential element to a starter kit.

My package would include:
1) A list of sites for natural hair information/resources - like a directory of sorts
2) accessories (hair and earrings)
3) info on how to assess the hair and create a regimen
4) a book on natural hair like Chicoro's Grow It
5) spray bottles, satin pillowcases, satin bonnets

Living in Curacao with no access to a lot that you guys have in The US, I would include in the starter kit.
- a booklet with basic knowledge on taking care of natural hair,
- a wide tooth comb
- a satin pillow case or
a satin bonnet
- a very mild shamoo/scalp cleanser
- a simple (read cheap) conditioner
- a good leave-in
- castor oil
- coconut oil
- a small container of gel

LET's see lol
I would first have a conversation with them about moisture , sealant , and protective styling
A wide tooth comb and a soft brush
EVOO, Coconut oil and jojoba oil , castor oil , shea butter , avocado oil (I'm a oil enthusiast ) ,spray bottle
Giovanni leave in (kimmaytube recipe)
Jane carter deep conditioner (honey and any oil of choice)
headbands , beenis , silk pillow case and bonnet
LInks to curlynikki,youtube for tips
That chicoro book isn't a bad idea either lol
