First two strand twists
So, it's a night of firsts for me. I just henna'd my hair for the first time, and decided why the heck not just go ahead and twist it while it was still wet. So far my hair is barely holding the twists. My curls are loose, so I'm just guessing I'll have this problem until my hair is longer. I'm going to wrap it tonight and depending on how they fare, I may do a twist out tomorrow or Monday. I'm excited. My hair is really growing. It's a teeny bit under 4". If it turns out okay, I'll be sure to post photos!!! Oh, and my friend was soo impressed with my hair and experience after my BC, that she grew her hair out for three months and cut her hair yesterday. She is soo cute and I'm excited for her!

This will give you an idea of the length. This is freshly henna'd, detangled hair.

Here are my two-strand twists. They look loose to me.

Re: First two strand twists
i think they are adorable. i try and two strand twist my hair, but no matter what i do they are loose. i dont think it had anything to do with hair length
Re: First two strand twists
When I do my two-strand twists on wet hair, I use clips or bobby pins at the root to keep them twisted until they are slightly surface dry. That also makes sure they dry in the right direction. down.
But yours are too cute. I bet you can't keep from pulling them and watching them bounce back. I know I have a hard time keeping my hands out of my hair when I put in twists.

Re: First two strand twists
@Zaporiah - Good to know that loose is normal. Thanks!!
Madeaj - It is hard not to touch them. I'm making a conscious effort to keep my hands out of my hair, though. And, yeah, when I walked down the stairs, I felt my hair bounce for the first time in a long time. LOL. I'll have to try the bobby pin trick next time I twist. Do you prefer to do your twists on wet or dry hair?
I was surprised that it didn't take as long as I thought. I'm lazy and am kind of useless when it comes to parting hair, so I just grabbed hair and twisted. That probably saved some time. I know length helps, too. It seriously took me maybe 20-30 minutes to do it all. Depending on the results of the twist out I'll do tomorrow or Monday, I may start doing twists more often.

Re: First two strand twists
It looks very cute! I have noticed that my hair will not hold a twist for about 3 weeks after a henna. It is very loose but I love the henna! I may have to henna every 2 months instead of once a month. Does the henna loosen your curls a bit?
Re: First two strand twists
@Dream - It does feel a little looser. The curls further down the strand look the same, but it seems straighter near the roots. My hair and scalp feel great, though, so I may keep doing the henna treatments.

Re: First two strand twists
@CurlyNMixed if you're worried about the curl loosening, i know some naturals add other powders to their mix (like amla) to help counteract the curl loosening. Hope this helps

Adorable. Your hair looks so soft and healthy and its hard to believe this is your first attempt!
I use amla. I seem to be prone to curl loosening, even with Bentonite clay, so amla is my HG. If color depth is not important to you, you can use a 50/50 mix. If color is important 3 - 4T per 100g of henna is what you aim for. Let us know if you try it and if so, how it works.

Re: First two strand twists
@Curlista and Nola - Thanks for the info on Amla. I will use it next time I henna, as I don't like the curl loosening side effect.
@Nola - My hair does feel so wonderful after the henna treatment. I mixed it with Aloe and a splash of Bragg's ACV.

Re: First two strand twists
I bought the earrings on Mehandi.com. I get soo many comments on them. They have some really cute ones that are similar that don't cost as much on Etsy, but of course I discovered that after the fact.
