Time to spend some money
OKay guys, I need a list of MUST HAVES for mostly coarse hiar. I "just got paid and i gotta a little money to burn!" lol
I preferably need something that does great twist/braid outs, moisturizers, something to seal ends, something that leaves your hair soft and etc
BTW what are butters for?? lol

Re: Time to spend some money
I like to think of butters as "nourishers." The don't really moisturize, but I do think that they provide lots of benefits for the hair. Some people use them as sealants and some use them as their main moisturizer or a styler.
As far as what products you should buy, that's a tough one. Everything works differently for everyone but the lines that I hear consistently good reviews about are Qhemet (closed until Jan), Oyin (about to place an order myself), and Darcy's Botanicals. Can you get Shea Moisture products locally? I would start with them if you can because if they don't work out you can always return them.

Re: Time to spend some money
yea my hair has graduated from shea moisture unfortunately., There was a time where my hair loves the shea but now its blah....
Whats really good in the Darcy and Qhemet? I remember hearing something about the Darcy's jelly or something right?

Re: Time to spend some money
The curling jelly is a wash n go product. I'm not sure how moisturizing it is. Qhemet's creams are really good. The Amla and Olive is thicker and may work best for coarser hair. The Olive and Honey Balm is wonderful sealant. Their Cocoa Tree Detangling Ghee is really good for moisturizing and detangling. Research some reviews on the products to see which ones you might like best.
Re: Time to spend some money
I certainly will! Thanks, i may opt out of the wash n go because my hair is so coarse so wash n gos to curl define never work. I will def look up the sealant as well
Re: Time to spend some money
I have thick, coarse hair and I've recently discovered these products:
Shea Moisture Shea Butter Leave-In (not from the Tgt line)
Donna Marie Super Butter Creamhttp://www.goodhairmart.com/Donna-Marie-Super-Butter-Creme_p_58.html
I also whip my own shea butter and use to twist and seal my ends. It's not a moisturizer, but adding aloe gel and some oil makes it a great sealer. It's not greasy unless you use too much oil.
This is what's working for me these days...HTH

Do you use ur butter and whipped mixed together?
Re: Time to spend some money
If you're looking to try out a butter, you might want to check the reviews on Darcy's Botanicals Organic Palm and Cherry Kernal Butter. I love this stuff and I was skeptical about it. I have thick, coarse hair. I use this over Qhemet's BRBC or CD's hair milk. Here's a pic of the results I had with a twists out...

Aggiegem I may have to try the DB Organic Palm & Cherry Kernal Butter I use alot of her products but my favorite is UFD Extra butter but its pricey $24.99
Re: Time to spend some money
thanks ladies... the only issues is my spending...lol im in PJ rehab =/ but how long did the butter last for ur twist?
Re: Time to spend some money
I stretched the style in my pic for 4 days All I did at night was make several big twists and applied a smidge of the cherry kernal butter and slept in a bonnet. 4 day hair is almost unheard of for me. Did I mention that I love the organic palm and cherry kernal butter? lol

I just had t jump in here for a second. You might want to research AfroVeda products. I love their butters, and I get the best twist out from her products.
She has several butters and each and everyone is very moisturizing. Don't mean to confuse you, but next on my list would be Qhemet! Like LaToya stated each person hair is different, but I wish you luck on your quest!!
