It's definitely not the olive oil. If anything the Omega 3 content in olive oil would help decrease shedding. Hormonal changes cause increased shedding. Unless you're talking about breakage? Shed hairs are long and have a little bulb at the end. Broken hairs are short. Which one did you see this morning?

Girl, you gotta put that olive oil back in the cabinet. I know you must have some stained clothes!

If you want to stick with a natural oil, try castor oil. It's thicker and doesn't drip like olive oil. However, if you have permed ends and you're trying to transition, I don't think natural oil is enough. Read this tutorial on how to wash/condition properly. I think it would be best to add a leave-in conditioner to your routine if you don't have one already. HTH

Hey Milwaukee! Also I know that that line where the natural hair meets the relaxed hair is very fragile so it's probably breaking at that point. You may just wanna go head and big chop IF you're ready.
You may also want to try using a moisturizer as well, not just evoo. Your hair may need real moisture. You can use a moisturizer and then still seal it with evoo. (or another oil) Smile

ITA. You definitely need to find something moisturizing for your hair like a leave-in conditioner, moisturizing styler, etc.

I shed like crazy in the winter also and so does my mom. I started doing black tea rinses and it cut down on the shedding A LOT
