Shea Moisture Smoothie Wash and go?/Technique's

Hey everybody

My hair is in the in-between state of getting longer its like a little past my shoulders and all my techniques i used before don't work. I usually would just use a wide tooth comb and then take the product and put it in my hair like i was doing a ponytail. Now that doesn't work so I tried to shingle shea moisture smoothie with my denman brush and it just wouldn't work for me it curled up pretty and i like the way my curls looked but my hair was frizzy with no volume.
