Re: FunkyHairChic: Taking A Hiatus and mini update w/pics!
Merry Christmas Eve Ladies!
I hope you all have finished your Christmas shopping and that you were able to brave those crazy crowds! I finished my Christmas shopping on Black Friday with a family flat screen TV and I'm buying a photo session so we can take a family picture. We haven't taken a family photo since 1986! I'm not even playing. I was in 2nd grade when we went to Sears to take a photo together. Shame right?! So that's my gift to them. I wanted to do something memorable and meaningful.
Please forgive me, but I've been on VACATION and I'm just loving every minute of it! I've been cleaning house and marking off my to do list. I have a lil something to share in hair news, and I will say I'm rocking a BANGIN' braidout right now! I've missed them and I almost forgot how much I love them. I tried the Naptural85 method for braidouts, and I'm sooooooo in love with it even more. Definitely works on twistouts and braidouts for ultimate definition and volume! Before I inundate you with pics, here is my quick regi:
I washed my hair on Thursday night (last week). I did a 30-45 min. prepoo with EVOO/Coconut oil and detangled my hair then put in twists. Shampoo'd with Giovanni TTT, conditioned with HE HH and deep conditioned with Giovanni SAS. Rinsed and added ACV rinse. Let me hair air dry for an hour or so and added leave in (KCKT) and my sheacoconut mix to retwist. I left the twist for a day and then unraveled on Saturday night. I went to a little shindig with some college friends and this was my hair on Saturday.
I was able to keep the style until Monday. I wanted to find another alternative to flat twisting my hair at night. It leaves my hair frizzier in the morning, however, I do get that volume, too. I think I also flat twist too big. Smaller may be the way to go. Idk. The next day my hair was huge, but it looked too poofy to me. Monday, I retwisted my hair and left them in all day to Tuesday afternoon. My hair on Tuesday:
After having yet another awesome hair day, I really wanted to maintain the style without flat twisting it and making it frizzy. I tried Naptural85 method by bunning the hair in scrunch at night and tucking the ends. Sooooo....the next day, that was a fail! My hair looked a mess my ends looked crazy. It was 10x frizzier and my definition was gone. My hair is not nearly as long as hers, so that may be why. So I simply put it in a puff and went on my merry way. I had a dream about my braidout hair that night and decided to go for it. I did the same method as twisting, except this time I braided. Here is my bangin' braidout from yesterday!
I took so many good hair pics, I had make a bigger collage! LOL! My hair was so on point! I can't believe how much it's grown! The last time I did a braidout was over a month ago. Normally, I'll braid my hair in smaller plaits, but this time I did a larger plaits for a more chunkier braidout. See the difference in this pic? The top is done with smaller/medium sized plaits. The bottom was done with 14 large plaits.
Anywho, that all the hair porn I have for ya'll for now. My hair goal for 2011 is retaining length and growing another 6" by the end of the year. I finally bought some trimming shears so I'll be dusting my ends and getting the knots under control. The shedding has died down. I'm not shedding nearly as much which is good. I purchased a couple new products. I bought some Roux Fermodyl 619 (recommended by Moptop Maven). I'm going to make a homemade leave-in and this product eliminates frizz, retain moisture, helps with knots and tangles, and seals the cuticles. She has a moisturizing balm I'd like to make with it. I think it will be good for the winter months. It comes in 3 vials and you can find them at Sally's for $8.50. I'll report my results after using it for a while.
I hope you all have yourselves a Merry Little Christmas! Enjoy the holidays with your families! Love ya'll! Smooches!

Beautiful braidouts! I'm jealous! I have some of that Roux Fermodyl too, but haven't been using it regularly. It's "old school," I remember my mother breaking the vials for my hair as a child!

Your hair is looking gorgeous and I love the braidout! I also remember using Fermodyl back in my relaxer days. It really helped me with shedding and strengthening my hair back in the day.

Re: FunkyHairChic: Taking A Hiatus and mini update w/pics!
Thank you ladies! Happy New Year to you all!
I hope you had a restful, relaxing holiday season! I know I did and I'm very excited about what 2011 has in store for me! I'm anticipating many new ventures to happen and I hope you all have great expectations for 2011, also.
I'll be taking a hiatus from CN, among other things for a while. I pray blessings over all that you set your minds to accomplish in your personal, professional, spiritual lives. I'm entering a new season in mine, and I need to give my undivided attention to what's most important right now. I won't be gone forever, but only for a little while.
In the meantime, I'm participating in a 2011 healthy hair challenge headed up by The Moptop Maven. I'm started NYE with freshly washed, trimmed hair. I dusted my own ends, and I did a pretty good job I might add! I see a major difference in my hair now! I'm seeing WAAAAAY less shedding; little to none, which is great! The challenge started on the 1st and will go for six months (July 1). My goal is to reach full APL by my two year mark in June, and on my way to midback by Dec. If you are interested in a great challenge for 2011 check out her blog http://www.moptopmaven.blogspot.com/ for details.
That's all for now lovelies! Here are a few pics to close things out while I'm away! I wish you all the best year yet! I'll be back with you soon, dolls! Muah!
