Khamit Kinks in Brooklyn, NY

Post by Curly Film Chick on 10th October 2010, 1:52 pm

I'm thinking about going to a salon for the first time to get my hair colored. I was thinking of going here because they specialize in natural hair and I feel like they won't be afraid/dismayed of my mane. Has anyone been? Please share if you've heard anything. Thanks!

Lord no. Don't go there. Their knowledge of curly hair really sucks. I went there twice and was disappointed both times. I felt the same way as you - since they specialize in natural qhair they'll have full knowledge of my hair texture.

Try self salon amd ask for Jeff. He's pretty good. It's in bklyn.

Just a suggestion: curly hair is already dry and coloring it makes it worse. Trust me. Regret doing it for so long now that I'm natural.

I've never gotten my hair styled there, but I've purchased hair from them when I was transitioning. The hair is expensive, but great. And, their service was good. I'm been planning a trip to NY in the Spring so they can do baby curl twists for me.

Let us know how your experience was.

I love them for curly styles, there are tons of stylists there so a few don't represent the whole, but I wouldn't go for a color, colored 2x w/nice results but I wouldn't call it their specialty. Maybe Mint salon? Or Bibi Salon? Bibi deals w/naturals, not sure about Mint.

I had an appointment (first time visit) for a consultation. I was not impressed with their level of customer service. I went to the front desk to let them know I was there (yes I was on time). I did expect some wait time 15 or 20 minutes or even the person who was giving the consultation to at least to say hello. So needless to say about 1 hour later I asked about my consultation appointment or if there was someone else available to consult me, the response was an eye roll.

@ djackson, I've had questionable front desk service on more than 1 occasion too, lol! I've always thought they needed a more experienced manager.
