I'm reading Young, Beautiful and HIV Positive by Marvelyn Brown. So far this is a very good book and I would recommend it to anybody. Especially black women. It really shows how family can and will determine our future and the choices we make.

I keep hearing about this book and keep seeing. I think I'll be the next book I read.

Up From Slavery-- Booker T. Washington.

It's his autobiography. I read it once when I was about 18, but I wanted to read it again as an adult. Interesting read--his statements about educating our people are thought provoking, even today.

I'm currently reading this Stieg Larsson bestseller and I can't put it down. Seriously, I almost didn't go out for New Year's Eve because I wanted to stay in a find out what happened next. A great mystery novel. Superb wiriting and a beautiful plot. Certainly a real page turner.

@ Neems and Naturallyu

That Trilogy is ADDICTIVE! I read the series, one immediately after the other, and I was totally unavailable to anybody for the time it took to complete them. I had to run out in the middle of a rain storm to get the last one!
We just watched the movies on Netflix. They are subtitled, but worth seeing :-)

Enjoy!

I just finished up The Confession, by John Grisham. One of his best books in my opinion. I'm now reading Hunger Games, the first book out of the triology. It's about a post-apocalyptic US and gladiator games set up by the government each year involving children. I call it "The Road" meets "Gladiator".

I've also read the Stieg Larson triology and I loved them. The 2nd book was my favorite. I enjoyed The Help as well.

Anyone here on Goodreads?

@whatdoesitlooklike: I heard they are coming out with an American version of the movie for the girl with the dragon tattoo. I bet it is going to be good. I cannot wait until I get to the other series of the trilogy. This is one of the best books that I have read in awhile. Next on my list is getting to happy by Terry McMillan.

I'm so addicted. I stayed up until 4 am one day to finish the first one. So now I HAVE to get the second one. The writing is brilliant and so detailed.

I'm reading "Real Role Models: Successful African Americans Beyond Pop Culture" by Joah Spearman & Louis Harrison Jr. and it is a GREAT book! It is a book geared to empower and inspire African Americans and show examples of what real role models are. They spotlight & interview everyday African American professionals. This is a MUST READ! Very Happy

This is a great book and an easy read!! I would definitely recommend it.

I've also read The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, albeit it was a bit slow in some parts, it was a very good book. I guess i need to download the other two.

Currently Reading - Page 3 Empty The Good House by Tananarive Due is soo good !

Post by gemofacurlgirl 2nd March 2011, 1:22 am

I have read quite a few of Tananarive Due's books and in anticipation of her latest installment in the African series I wanted to read some more of her work. The Good House is a page turner I did not want to put it down it's one of those books that your sad to finish because it was so darn good. Any way if you like extremely well written suspense ,sci- fi with some romance thrown in for good measure you will love this book ! Smile
