Trader Joes

Post by Renny on 27th June 2010, 3:31 pm

Hi Ladies,

I keep seeing the mention of Trader Joes. I've never heard of it. The prices people mention are very good for oils. I Googled Trader Joes and found 4 locations in the metro Atlanta area (none convenient to get to) but they look like they sell food, prepared and unprepared. I went to the products page and it was still all food. Do I have the wrong Trader Joes? www.traderjoes.com I don't want to take a trip so far and find that it's not the store mentioned on these boards.

Thanks,

R

thats the right link but imo trader joes doesnt have alot of hair products... 2 shampoos, 2 conditioners and the only oil I saw at the trader joe's in my area was vitamin E oil (fyi, I've been to all 3 in my area and they all have the same stuff). They have castile soap which is something u can get practically anywhere. I was in there just last week. they only have 4 shelfs of body/hair products.
Yes the prices are reasonable and the ingredients in the shampoos/conditioners are better than most (I just found out my fav trader joe's conditioner... the nurish spa, has parabens in it) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] So unless you just happen to be in that area, I would say save your gas. The store you would want to drive too, if its in your area is Whole Foods its a health food store similar to trader joe's but it has wayyy more body/hair products... Google "Whole Foods", hopefully they'll have 1 in your area.

Its the same store. They sell mostly organic foods but they also sell the shampoo and conditioner most people mention on here. The only oils I've seen are jojoba, tea tree, olive oil but they do cost less than what other stores sell them for.

Hey Renny! Girl let me first say that you are totally addicted. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Trader Joe's is okay but I prefer Whole Foods. Neither one of which is convenient to "our" side of town.

I am addicted, but that's how I am. Whenever I decide to do something, I do it. But I don't really commit to much, so I'm never overworked. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

You're right about Whole Foods. I travel all over the metro for business so I can tie a trip in as my lunch break, but didn't want to completely waste my time.

I think you should telephone the trader joe's you're thinkign of visiting, before you go. i think every store is different; they probably tailor it so each store stocks what the people near that store are buying. you're right, the hair section isn't really big. and there's no mention of it on the website, but it's the right website.

i know the nourish conditioner has parabens, but i think most things have some sort of preservative. i just make sure it's really rinsed out before i call myself done. i haven't yet found a conditioner that i like that doesn't have too many chemicals.

I can't believed that someone made You Tube videos about Trader Joe's and Whole Foods:

Don't know if this.ll help but I found one 15 minutes from my job (grady hospital) but I ride marta you'd have to catch the 99 bus from Ga state station. But it's closer to mid town station. we went a couple minutes past atlanta medical center and it's across from a grgrady football stadium.

Trader Joe's does not have an extensive selection of hair care products as pp mentioned. I do not have one in my area either. The nearest one is in Chapel Hill about 40 minutes away. I typically will stop in if I'm in the area because I love the tea tree oil shampoo and conditioner and you're right, the prices are reasonable.

Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle Conditioner is my favorite conditioner! Its all natural and has great slip, and its only $4 for a 16 oz bottle. Ive never tried the nourish spa one since its not all natural.

Hey Renny. Yeah, Trader Joe's is the BOMB!! If there were closer to me I'd be in there ALL THE TIME!!! But no, they don't have very many hair products. They do have nice soaps and shampoos and stuff just not a lot of it. But to me still worth it. BUT I would go all the way over there JUST for the hair stuff. I get groceries from there too and everything I have ever had (except some bran muffins-LOL) are the BOMB!!!! My whole family loves TJ's. Hope that helps!!! And also, someone said Whole Foods is where you should go. That's fine if you wanna spend more money!! They cost WAY more than TJ's. BUT they do offer way more. It's a way bigger store.
