Henna 101 Help Please
Can someone please give me the basic 101 on henna application. I plan to try my first henna treatment in a couple weeks and need the basics:
Do I shampoo before applying the henna or do I put the application on dry hair?
After washing the henna out of my hair, is that when I would deep condition with a high end conditioner such as Aubrey Organics Honey Suckle Rose?
How long should I let the conditioner stay on my hair (usually my hair is very dry after shampooing)?
I plan to mix my henna with coconut milk and raw honey since that seems like a simple combination and will be looking for the Reshma henna somewhere here in the Atlanta area.

Re: Henna 101 Help Please
Most people do shampoo before applying henna (I do)
After rinsing the henna out (you may want to use a cheapie condish to help) you will want to DC with a moisturizing conditioner.
You can leave the condish on for as long as you like, 30 minutes - 1 hour may be a good starting point but go longer if you need it.
Good Luck!
I'm actually just sitting down from rinsing out some henna

CN has a great tutorial here http://www.curlynikki.com/2008/12/henna-pictorial.html
Then there's a GREAT e-book on henna and how-to here: http://www.hennaforhair.com/freebooks/hennaforhair.pdf
I have both bookmarked because I read and watched over and over again before trying it myself.
Good luck!!

Re: Henna 101 Help Please
I tried it on dry hair and wet hair. For longer hair, I think doing it wet is the way to go. I also shampoo my hair before I apply the henna.
I agree with Tia. Use a cheapie condish to help rinse the henna out and then put your good stuff on.
