Re: SheeTacular's Hair Journey - Slide show!
Ok I'm gonna try to get caught up on my pics. I have succeeded to keep my twists in. I'm not sure why I am always taking them out early. But anywho here it is.
October 24th twist out and length Check

Hey, are you still struggling with dryness post henna? I'm getting some of my curl back in the front, but will seriously need to DT if I henna again.

No I Deep conditioned Sunday then used my shea mix when I twisted my hair. It's not as soft as before but its much better. Plus I moisturizer in the evening and morning.
Re: SheeTacular's Hair Journey - Slide show!
Glad your hair is getting better after the henna treatment.

As you continue to henna, your grays may become brick red. I still find them after an henna and indigo treatment. I wish my gray came in a streak so I could rock it.

Re: SheeTacular's Hair Journey - Slide show!
Yeah I was hoping my gray would be a full streak in the front but it wasn't so. I love gray hair so when it becomes more prevailant I will stop hennaing...lol
Anyways. It's Friday and my twists are still in. I am so proud of me.
And a bit of good news. The worst of my thin spot has a circular smooth spot where I thought it was just never gonna be any hair. well this week I started massaging my scalp and I thought I felt stubble. I had my sister check it out cuz she wouldn't lie to me plus I was wondering if it was wishful thinking and sure enough I have a some hair growing. Little stubble growing in my thin spot...yay me.
God is so good.!!! Yall want to celebrate with me. Come on dance. Don't stop! Get it! Get it!

I luv ur small twists!!! I wish my hair would do that...I try and my twist just unravel or curl up...
Anywhoo I have heard of ppl mixing a bit of henna with their
conditioner or with yogurt...I think in those cases they leave it on
for about an hour or so.

Dancing with you--yeah for stuble because stuble will become hair!
Re: SheeTacular's Hair Journey - Slide show!
A85 My sister's hair does the same thing. The last time I twisted her hair I let it dry a lil bit naked then sprayed a lil leave in conditioner water based then used Oyin shine n define and whipped pudding. The whipped pudding is heavy but it held together in the curl and you have to remember to twirl the ends so they will curl aroud each other. You will have major shrinkage but it's cute....Hope this helps.

Hair Haul
I found the indian grocer today. I purchased Jamila Henna for $1.99 and Vatika Oil for $2.49.
Vatika Oil by Dabur 5.07 fl. oz
Ingredients:
Coconut Oil, Nwwm, Brahmi, Gruit Extracts of Amla, Bahere and Harar, Kapur kachri, Henna, Milk, Rosemary Oil, Lemon Oil, TBHQ (preservative), Fragrance.
I went to the middle eastern grocer and found Almond oil for $3.99 for 8 ounces. ($8 and up in the whole foods store).
At the whole food store I got tea tree oil. I'm not sure how I'm going to use it. I tend to get sores and follicle flare ups in my thin spot and on my scar tissue so i'm thinking since tea tree oil is and antiseptic oil I can reduce these flair ups this will lead to a healthy scalp and more hair growth.
I'm also in search of a more natual deodorant. I tried Alba but it doesn't last all day. I mean once its gone its gone so hopefully you are close to a shower when it wears off.
Today I got Vitamin E deodorant by Queen Helene so we will see how that works.
That's my saturday. I'm thinking about washing my hair with my micro twists in and just retwisting the ones that unravel. Just because I'm lazy but my hair doesn't feel too fresh.
ok Later...Smooches.

It depends on the day...LOL This set I left in some rosemary mint condish (bioinfusion) uses Aussie Hair Insurance and my shea butter mix. it's whipped with aloe gel, lavendar oil, vitamin E oil, olive oil, almond oil, and vO5. I usually melt it a lil when I'm doing twists. I find it smooths better for me.
Re: SheeTacular's Hair Journey - Slide show!
Wow!! I can't believe I missed two days posting. Well I have been reading some updates too. I love technology. I still have my twists in. YAY for me this is week two. I 'm not sure if I'm gonna take them down and style for the meet-up on Saturday.
Anyways I thought I'd say hey!!
PS. Thinking about that henna gloss.

Re: SheeTacular's Hair Journey - Slide show!
Love your twists...they turned out really cute!
As far as the henna goes, I would suggest trying it again and maybe adjusting your recipe. From the reading I have done on the subject, they say that the addition of oils and maybe proteins (like eggs and such) can help prevent your hair from feeling so dry after hennaing (fyi, they also say adding these may reduce the depth of color u can achieve).
I used olive oil and an egg in my first henna mix and I did not notice that my hair turned out particularly dry. Also, did you DC afterwards? I also read that you make have to tweak your mix until you get it exactly how you want it. So don't give up. But anyway, just wanted to offer some suggestions. Your hair looks great! Keep up the good work.
Blessings

Thanks lady!!! I appreciate it. I am gonna do just that. I'm gonna play around with it. I think I had a good color deposit for it being the first time. An added bonus is I found an indian grocer so I can get my henna cheap and anytime I want.
BTW You and your hair are gorgeous!!! I can't weight to get more length.

Re: SheeTacular's Hair Journey - Slide show!
Debating. Do I take the twists out or leave them in? Do I wash and retwist? Do i wear a fro to the meet up? Soooo many options...I can't take it......lol
No problem Human Nature. I'm glad you are learning your way around.

Re: SheeTacular's Hair Journey - Slide show!
Okay Lovely People!!! I started taking down my mini twists. Only the twists I retwisted are really pretty shiny and well defined. the ones I didn't have to retwist are not coming down easy and I have knots galore. So this is my plan. I'm going to try to do a few flat twists or some version of them on both sides and spike the twist/twist out in the middle. I will post pics sometime this weekend.
I'll probably wash and Deep condition tomorrow. Not sure how I'm gonna wear it for the curly meet up on Saturday.
Have a great Thanksgiving!!
Smooches and Hugs.
