I just havent been able to bring myself to put eggs and mayo in my hair but I have heard when you rinse it out, use cool/cold water or you will end up with white specks in your hair.

Hey Milwaukee... I have been wondering about this myself but like Lynnie, i am uneasy about that!! LOL But here is a link http://www.ehow.com/how_4743695_heal-olive-oil-eggs-mayonnaise.html. I hear a lot of people like this and as long as it's rinsed out thoroughly it should be fine. And also like Lynnie said if you use hot water to rinse out it could actually cook the egg a little making it very hard to rinse out, I guess that's what the white specks would be.

I make a honey custard (to eat) that is out of this world. I wonder if a similar recipe could be used to make a cooked hair conditioner with eggs that won't curdle in your hair? It uses all the things you might put in your hair anyway. Eggs, honey, milk (cream). Of course I also put in almonds or pistachios and a little booze. Laughing
Its cooked in the oven, but I have successfully made cooked custard in a double boiler. Hmmm, I'll have to try that when no one is home. The family might be disappointed when I slap it on my hair instead putting it in dishes to eat.

If you use the entire egg, the yolk will "cook" too! Mayo will give you egg + oil.
The only thing keeping me from using mayo(or ACV) is I hate the odor of vinegar.

Eggs in your hair REALLY! Empty Absolutely... I use egg in my hair

Post by Parisanmocha 26th December 2010, 9:46 pm

Not sure why the surprise, but I have been using eggs in my hair now for almost 2 years now and no I do not use cold water lol. First I only use the egg yolk, then I whip it with almond oil, avocado oil and coconut oil. After that is mixed in, I add castor oil and jojoba oil. For consistency I add in a little conditioner... put it in my hair sit under a heat cap for 30 minutes then rinse it out. I then wash my hair with a conditioner.

This is my routine for a deep conditioner. Works like a charm. Hair looks healthy and shiny. It really works. I told a friend of mine who is also natural, and she tried it and has been doing it ever since

I'm surprised that so many ppl didn't know about this. My mom used egg in my hair when I was super young - like middle school young. Eggs as a hair conditioner is an OLD old homemade conditioner. It was around before the internet - seriously.

I've done it a few times. It doesn't feel weird. Feels just like a DC. I've done Mayo also but didn't like it because it left a lot of oily residue on my strands.

I've done that a few times! Eggs in your DC is a great way to create a protein deep conditioner.

I do it the easy way and I get my Honey and Egg Poo Bar from Chagrin Valley. Wash with it, let it sit for a few minutes and wash it out, then move on to conditioner and so on. I guess I keep it a little too simple, LOL

That does sound simple. I have a jar a use so the application is pretty easy - no different than my normal conditioner application. I hate paying for shipping on things I am not sure I will like so I haven't ordered any of the Chagrin Valley bars - yet.
