Women of Color in Higher Education
Hey,
I hope everyone is doing well!
I came across this project called Refuse the Silence, which documents the experiences of women of color (alums and current students) on elite liberal arts college campuses. I noticed that many of the women here are college aged or know women in college so I thought this would a great way to share information. The young woman who's running the project is compiling experiences into a book, which she will then distribute to said colleges, along with a list of what those colleges could do to improve young WOC's experiences at school.
Here's the link to her site:

And here's a testimonial of one young woman from Middlebury. Listening to her I was thinking, you could switch Middlebury for other schools quite easily and most of what she's saying would totally still apply.

She stresses that she wants experiences from all women of color--she's not focusing solely on black women. Please forward this to your friends.
Have a nice day http://www.refusethesilence.com/

Re: Women of Color in Higher Education
I'm currently a graduate student at DePual University completing my MA in Sociology and planning on going on tho earn my PHd in Sociology!
It is a very scary/intimidating process. Has anyone gone/going through this and has any advice on the process of picking a school/program, preperation, etc!
Thanks
